Plenty recent posts about wanting the english to get beat and so here's my twa bob:
There are only two reasons I want England to get beat:
1. I have a feeling there's a chance we might qualify for Portugal and if England are also there, the small minority of their fans that are hooligans might upset a couple of my afternoons' banter with fans from other countries. Their's are the only 'fans' I think will gie me any bother, so no thankyou, please c'mon Turkey.
2. I should be bigger than this, but I just cannae stand the BBC/SKY England top of the pops vvankathon and wouldn't be able to do anything else but writhe with glee at Ian Wright's pus after England failed to beat a comparitive minnow like Slovakia at home.
Other than that, I couldn't care less and I wish Scotland fans would stop having such an obsession about wanting England to get beat.
I'd rather have watched our group games tonight, apart from the last 2 minutes in Torshavn.

Kernie, just cos they won something in the past (albeit as part of a "unified state" at the time ) doesna mean there not minnow now...... just look at you boys for another example!!!!

Well if we're minnows as well then I'd say 2-1 against Slovakia is a great result for us and I happily accept your congratulations

Yes. They are ranked 53rd in the world. England are 7th.
That's why I said 'comparative'. Population-wise they were one third of Czechoslovakia.

Guy's the original post was a lot more balanced and fair than I would have managed. Kernie and CUFC you really are the perfect example of everything I dislike about England. You nit pick about How Slovakia "once were part of".......blah blah blah but then I have to come to expect that from a country that lives on former glories. Just admit it...you guys were a shambles last night and would have been beaten if it hadn't been for woeful finishing in the first half from The Minnows. This after boasting on another thread how we should be scared of yous in the play off??? So Don't try and deny your arrogance to us.....it's clear for all to see.
