I've been supporting England's opponents for almost as long as I've been supporting Scotland. It's just part of the package for me.
Nothing to do with bigotry, or being small-minded, just rivarly with a team that we have been playing since 18 canteen in the oldest footballing fixture in the world. A rivarly fuelled by politics and atrocious media coverage - which we all love really 'cos we can moan about it all the time

I like to see England lose, but I don't actually have anything major against the team.
Except Scholes, he's a little ginger prick.
It's the England fans, and even moreso, the MEDIA I can't abide.
I'm sorry if that seems small-minded, but they are the most arrogant people I have ever encountered.

To claim Slovakia as a major force because they once were part of Czechoslovakia is abit rich.
I mean Serbia & Montenegro were once part of Yugoslavia, but their one draw and a defeat against Azerbaijan shows how far they have fallen since the country split up.

I wondered about that as well.

Why I hate the English?
I don't actually hate the English as there are good and bad in most races and nationalities. On one hand you have Kernie and CUFC and on the other decent folk who work hard and don't have an once of malice in them at all.
I don't think it is "English" as such, more so the southern English who are some of the most unfriendly people on this earth. I have lived in Wales, Singapore and Germany and visited many more and have never met sheer pig ignorance as these people have. I generalise and I know I shouldn't but Scousers, Gerodies, Mancs, Brummies, Yorkshire folk all seem to be okay. Once you get south of Birmingham you hear the banjoes and enter the land of the Bigot. These southern folk think more of what they have, what they can get and one upmanship. If you had pneumonia, you can gaurantee they will have had double pneumonia. It is this attitude that rubs off on the English press and influences the rest of the world.
That is why I hate the English, well the Southern English anyway, not much to go on but I am sure it will bring a response.
Oh and do have first hand experience as I live in Oxfordshire with an English girl and her children in an English house. Our neighbours are fine but they are Geordies and Cantonese than god.

The mythical 'arrogant southerners' are an easy target but I think the case gets overstated. The more English people I meet, from all the far-flung corners of the realm, the more I believe that they are not really very different from each other.
These 'southerners' then... you mean the farmers of East Anglia? the bumpkins of Somerset and Dorset? the Cockney cab-drivers? the countless miserable estate-dwellers? Your passionate Celtic cousins in Cornwall? Naah. I think you mean the upper-middle class... and I agree up to a point, a lot of them do grate on the nerves. But you don't just find them in the south, you find them all over England, literally... even in the NORTH, shock horror!!
You and Bzzzz, and several others, seem to be Northern English-philes, at least relative to the southern English... but as I have said elsewhere, I have never heard bitterer anti-Scottish comments than those I have heard coming out of the mouths of Northerners - and especially Geordies and Mancunians.
But there you go.
