"I feel it is not right to be disrespectful to someone elses religion"

"I have had words with Richie for spouting of about SNP to me in our house, I am not interested in SNP end of story."

So is it just religion that is entitled to respect and not political views then?  How far does "religion" extend?  Is it disrespectful to criticise Catholics/Muslims/Pagans/Satanists?  What has religion done to place it above criticism?

J.B.
I have not tried to stop Richie with his political view, I just don't want to get involved in politics in my house. I encourage him to be active if he feels so strongly about them.
To some politics are their religion.
Any way got to go to church it is 10.30 a.m. 11 a.m. kick off.
p.s. I have posted what I feel, my thoughts on the issues, you are entitled to agree or disagree J.B. I wont fall out with because of your opinion being different from mine, and I wont force my beliefs on you if you don't force your disbelief on me.

WW did I see an edit on your post? only jesting.
The reason I edited it was because it was sick, it was the punch line from an old joke which was not fit or as funny as I though it was. What sparked my rant off, just a feeling that some things were going too far. Remember, this is just my own view point, and some people will differ, others will agree, and some might not give a F**k.
So if you don't agree fine, but if it makes people sit up and think, well it is doing something, also it is not my moral code, it is all about respecting your country enough to think about how the things we do or say effect the way others see it. If life is all about having crack, and not giving a thought on how we behave then there is no standards, Maybe it is just that I am getting to an age where the things that I was taught, growing up are now more apparent in what I see and hear.  I my youth I didn't care, now I do.
Maybe I am trying to amend some of the wrong I have done,
maybe it is too little too late.
Maybe I would be better of just leaving the board, if my thoughts are so wrong, and I am being moralistic, but if there is a continuation of the stuff that is happening on the walk to Hampen and other grounds and our nation comes into disrepute, then we are all guilty by association.

"What sparked my rant off, just a feeling that some things were going too far."

Are you still talking about singing about Victoria Beckham, because I don't remember hearing it sung for ages, that's I why I don't understand why you've started this thread now.

"also it is not my moral code, it is all about respecting your country enough to think about how the things we do or say effect the way others see it."

Ok, your Respect for Scotland Code, but it's still how you deem being respectful, and you've got to realise that that's not necessarily what other people consider to be respectful. There isn't just one standard.

"If life is all about having crack, and not giving a thought on how we behave then there is no standards"

But what is the point in saying this if you admit that you've done it recently and you admit that you'll do it again? It's like making the rules, then breaking them, and then apologising for breaking them, and there was therefore no point in having the rules in the first place.

"Maybe I would be better of just leaving the board, if my thoughts are so wrong, and I am being moralistic,"

You should have left the board along time ago if you think that's what you should do if your views don't correspond with ever other user.

"but if there is a continuation of the stuff that is happening on the walk to Hampen and other grounds and our nation comes into disrepute, then we are all guilty by association."

Then we must be taking differerent very different routes to Hampden, or I must have a hearing defect. Are you talking about any other songs apart from the Vikki Beckham one? The only song that I can think of that may be deemed offensive, although I hardly ever hear it at all, is "If you hate the f*cking English, clap your hands" (and that doesn't include "Stand up if you hate England" which is completely diffferent) It must be pretty difficult for you in a club football ground with all the offensive songs that are sung. Or are you talking about Micheal Mols's wife?

And don't think that because I disagree with you on this I hold some personal vendetta against you. If I didn't get on with people who I disagreed with I'd have no friends.

I have had people ignore me at tambers meetings, because they see Hawkeye Ranoo through the eyes of the board and not as the person he is in real life, as Rikki Duncan.

Hypocrite.
Richie introduced me to you at the Iceland game and you just ignored me.

I think people would take the piss out of Victoria Beckham whether she was Beckhams wife or not.
She's a talentless snob who made millions for no particular reason.
Good luck to her, one could say, but don't strut around like you earned it.
Having said that, the f**kwits who sing about Beckhams kids dying of cancer should be shot, and that's not a figure of speech.
I've often felt that England doesn't deserve him with the treatment he gets, I for one am very grateful to have such an inspirational and commited captain as him, regardless of what he does off the pitch.

I think you do have to draw the line at wishing death on her, and I can't understand why anyone would want to bring their kids into it - apart from anything else it just becomes unfunny. But Victoria Beckham is a star in her own right, and when you are in the public spotlight you get talked about, and sometimes sung about, she's not exactly tried to hide herself in the last decade.

HR, you are worried about the younger TA coming thru and being respectful (we wont get onto the older TA folks being respectful). How do you think TA behaviour differs from when you went to games 10-15 years ago?

I think you are possibly viewing the past through rose tinted lenses.

What "stuff"? give us some examples HR because I'm a bit lost as to what point you are trying to illustrate. I am unaware of any behaviour that would cause me to worry so much when walking to Hampden

O.K. so I am wrong, things aren't as bad as I thought they were, ''phew'' what a relief, well I am now a more enlightened man, than I was yesterday, my heart felt thanks to all my Scottish brothers and sisters on the T.A.M. Board for helping me and letting me know that the good name of Scotland is in safe hands, if this is so then this thread has been worth while, I only highlighted some things that I had seen and heard and did. These were not of epidemic levels, but bubbling under.
No offence aimed at any board members either. No blame aimed and no denial of my own part in any of this, it was not about rules, it was about awareness, nothing more nothing less.
Respect.

But that's what I'm trying to say! Your interpretation of what is "bad", "disrespectful" and "tasteful" may be different from other peoples'. If you were a wee bit more specific it would be easier to see where you were coming from.

HR, I accept that on the way to Hampden (or any ground on our travels for that matter) you come across fowk who are very drunk, pishing in the street, swearing, puking, singing not very politically correct songs etc.  Some of it is not very nice, but its pretty well harmless IMO and it will never go away either (it is a football crowd we are talking about remember, not a church congregation)

I have been forced to empty the old bladder on the way to games plenty of times but I do try and find a hedge to hide behind (don't want to scare people ) there's nothing wrong in that as far as I can see. Perhaps fowk openly pishing in front of everyone is another matter.

As far as being drunk etc, I have posted on here in the past my views on people being blind drunk at games so I wont go over them again, but its each person's choice if they want to be like that, and they run the risk of being ejected or denied entry to the stadium in the first place.

On the whole however I don't think the TA's behaviour before, during and after the match is anything to be too concerned about.

I have said all I have to say, this is my last on this in defence of my original thread.
I agree with the view point of the responders. I am not out to condemn only to illustrate to potential damage, that behaviour deemed as harmless fun by some, can be seen as obusive by others. And if the later is the view point of the public at large, then the damage is done to all the T.A. or is loutish behaviour seen as acceptable because it is a football crowd with a licence to do what ever is acceptable to the drunken mind. If any member on this board was out with their family and a crowd of individuals came by, singing obusive songs, flashing themselves and peeing in your garden, or up your close, would they really say. it's o.k. they are just having harmless fun. What is more important to each T.A, member, to show themselves up as good examples for Scotland, or to show themselves up.

Are you trying to say that all these things are new to the TA? I thought pishing in the street and flashing was an old age tradition.

All these things don't seem to have done much harm to the TA's reputation in the past. "We hate Jimmy Hill, he's a poof" is on the same "abusiveness" level as "Posh Spice is a slapper" surely? Which are both harmless, innocent football chants IMO.

I certainly don't think there's any evidence of an increase in "loutishness" behaviour anyway, speaking from experience at home games.

Precisely WW, and if you read Ronnie McDevitt's book on the TA this sort of thing has been happenning since the late 70's and haven't we won a few awards since then?

Sure, there is unacceptable behaviour by a few but I think HR is blowing this all out of proportion, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
