This is NOT meant as a wind-up but as a genuine question. I realise that Euro 2008 would be a great boost for the economy, raise Scotland's profile, etc etc. But would you really be gutted if you didn't get it? For me the only good thing about having Euro 96 was it gave us a better chance of winning (don't laugh!). I was VERY relieved when we didn't get 2006, as I'd much rather go abroad. As far as major tournaments go I would much prefer European competitions to be held in a different counrty. It gives the opportunity for a great holiday as well as a chance to escape all the hype over here. Do any members of the TA feel the same or are you all of the opinion that it would be the best thing possible?

Something to say |
Euro 96 theoretically gave you a better chance of winning it, Euro 2008 gives us a better chance of qualifying to be there. Not too keen on missing out on any more big parties like the world cup this year.

I for one think that we should be the hosts for a change - show the visiting nations the TA on home turf.
We have invaded so many countries - time of us to return the favour!

Well, much as I enjoy travelling all over Europe to watch Scotland play, I think Euro 2008 would be a wonderful thing for Scotland to get. It would be great to have the party right here on our doorstep - it would even give us the chance to pop home for a shower occasionally
Seriously, a chance to show the rest of Europe that we can hold a party as well as gatecrash one...a chance to repay all the hospitality...a chance to qualify... Why would we not want it?

It would be great to defend the title in our own country
CUFC, perhaps thinks that we may be just a drunken rabble out to terrorise europe. ( perhaps thinking of someone else there old bean!)
We can show the world how friendly a place we can be.

All for hosting but not with Ireland. Will enjoy it but not the way I would have had it been Scotland only. So disappointed that the holiday seems preferable. Why not trash it and go solo later when union jack is politically deid?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again.
I would have Euro 2008 even if we do have to share it with the Irish.
After the Champions League final last week, just think of the atmosphere it would create round Scotland.
A few weeks of football AND partying. We might even qualify for the 2nd phase
It would also be a kick in the bollo€ks for Jack ( spit) McConnell, as he seems to have done his best to scupper the bid so far.
