Cheap GO flight to helsinki + either slow ferry ( cheap , but with ample drinking facilities - overnight journey possible ) or seacat ( more expensive , but faster- 2rs I think ) from Helsinki to Tallinn.
easy!

Ta for info, hope it warms up before July. GO don't seem to do Helsinki anymore, so we might try Stockholm by Ryanair and cheap ferry to Tallinn.
Oh no, Sweden, even more charming women. I'll have to wear blinkers.

Hello Gordon Murray,
Ferries from Helsinki to Tallin are about 42€ return fast boat, slow boats about 30€ return. Bets bet is fly to Stockholm with Ryan Air then overnight ferry to Tallin. The boat is brilliant its worth checking out.Let us know if you need the price of the ferry. My mates have just visited us here in Helsinki they flew in with KLM they had the best offers so check them out if your coming through Helsinki. Lets have a swally together.

Didn't realise Finland was so popular among people on this board. Got a lot of family over there. (I'm half Finnish myself) and over there every 6 months or so. Went on that slow boat with a couple of mates the summer before last. Spent the night at the bar pissing ourselves watching drunken Finnish fortysomethings (successfully) trying to pull each other. A bit like a floating Clatty Pats if you know the place! In fact I think we were the youngest people on the boat by a good 15 years. Well worth it though. Dirt cheap (£10 return if you stay on the boat but you only get a few hours in Tallinn - you're as well getting two singles). The hotels over there are pretty cheap too. Couldn't recommend and classy ones to impress your girlfriend but stayed in the Hotel Viro (might be called something else now) - very central and pretty lively.

Have you tried the 24 hour cruise from Helsinki? Its pure mental! Its full of grab a grannie bars and just sitting back watching the Finns is worth payng the money just to experiance the show that only drunken Finns can put on, but living here in Helsinki is great and I have even been captured by a beautiful Finnish lassie. So I cant knock it here. When will you be coming here next time?
Kaikkea hyvää tällä kertaa!

I could be thinking of the same cruise that you're meaning. Leave Helsinki late afternoon, get into Tallinn later on that night but you can't get off the boat until morning. Either way I know exactly what you mean about the show drunken Finns can put on. Seriously don't think I've ever laughed so much in an evening in my life.
Like I was saying over quite a lot - usually to Tampere and Helsinki for a bit each time. Got a lot of family in both places. Was over in December - up near Kuopio. Bloody freezing but never seen the place looking so nice. Not sure when again but should be by the summer.

Nice one. Will do. Might not be for a few months but the boat trip sounds tempting!

My flight was £185 from Edinburgh to Helsinki via Amsterdam with KLM; travelling Mon 30th Dec, back Fri 3rd Jan.
Not sure if most airlines still charge cheaper prices for a Saturday night stay though.

I flew to Helsinki from Glasgow via Amsterdam at the end of November and stayed over the weekend and I'm pretty sure my flight was £185 as well. The trip was at short notice but I did a fair bit of hunting around at the time and that was about as cheap as I could find (with www.flights4less.co.uk).

Do you have family in Helsinki? And if so, where?
My wife is from Valkeakoski, have you ever been there?

Quite a few in Helsinki - my father (who's Scottish) is a lecturer in English at Helsinki University and stays in (excuse the spelling) Roihuvouri. Also various Finnish relatives staying at Itakeskus, near Iso-Robertiin katu and at Vantaa. Been through Valkeakoski on the bus between Helsinki and Tampere. Can't say I've ever stopped though. Am I right in saying the Finnish national football museum is there? I'm sure I've seen signs to it. Always wondered what that's like. Whereabouts in Helsinki are you yourself?

We are in Herttoniemi which is very near to Roihuvuori and Itäkeskus. So let your Dad know if he fancies a pint, we can meet up sometime! Never been to that football museum in Valkeakoski dont know why? Have you been to Bohemia night club in Itäkeskus? We was there for new year, my mates were over from Bathgate and SunshineonLeith also joined us. First in Bohemia some lassie walked up to Big Andy put her hand up his kilt started licking his face and tried to put her tit in his mouth! Fuc*ing magic!! SunshineonLeith after two shots of Salmiakki koskenkorva was lying in the snow making a snow angel with Mrs Helsinki2! It was -26 degrees god help if Scotland get a game here. Its going to be mental!!
