GET A LIFE!!!

Right, kids.  It's about time this section had another topic.  Bit of diversity, ken?  Tidy.

As mentioned in the other relevant thread in this section, a small breakaway group consisting of myself, my good wife Mrs Sacks, Bridie Boy, and denhaagdavie are hell-bent on taking the scenic route to Prague.  Flights to Amsterdam can be secured for hopefully as little as £60 return.  This will vary depending on how long it takes UEFA to confirm match dates. From there we take the overnight train with cabins sleeping 4/6 folk.

Schedule is as follows:

Depart Amsterdam 20:13, arrive Prague 10:15 journey time 14 hours 2 mins. Changes 0. There is also one at 17:04 that arrives at 8:09 am but has 2 changes.

Return trains are 18:26 arriving at 8:50 or 19:00 arriving at 11:49,otherwise you need to change a couple of times.

Cost is approximated at 172 euros (roughly £120).

Who's up for it?

Will Sacks & Mrs Sacks have their own compartment or will whoever is sharing just have to 'pretend' to be asleep?

Schneker, I accept no responsibility for your state of magoodness or the number of car parks you decide to kiss...

I'll be there might even find a buddy to come with me too.  Any idea when the date will be annouced???  Here's hoping it coincides with the student loan .

This route sounds great to me, just wouldnt be a trip without finding the longest route possible!!!

Can Un-easyJet do us a group deal or something if theres a few of us on the same flight???

I don't know about group discounts from Easyjet though there's nae harm in trying.  Might as well give KLM a chance as well.

July 10th-ish I think is when the dates are finalised.  The sooner the better.

As i am based over here i'll volunteer to arrange the train,AS LONG AS I HAVE DEFINITE NUMBERS,i dont want to risk buying 20 tickets and only 10 turn up.Once the draw is made i can find out train times and costs, then theres the hotel question. Any volunteers for that ,Ian Black??Or we could just stay up all night.

Aye ok,
dhd, I can do that. I'm with you on the numbers, though. Does anyone fancy the hotel the team is staying in? Don't know what it is but can find out. I'll probably be going over a day or so early on the plane. Train sounds great but I'll see you there. I've got a couple of broken ribs from the Perth weekend and I'm feeling fragile, poor me. The whisky is hepling..hpeling..
hlepign..hnipelg. Need more.
Ian.

Sacks/DHD,

I'm thinkin' this train will probably come through Frankfurt on the way doon from the Dam or? Which is kinda enticin' me tae escape for a day or 6. And, as I checked oot the price from here tae Prague I got also asked if I wanted a 4/6 sleeper (who wants tae sleep?) The price I was quoted return Frankfurt-Prague was Euro 134, however that meant I had tae travel wi' a weekend day incl. So, seems if yer's was 172 Sacks (incl. the sleepin' bit?)it's no a bad deal from the Dam....

Hello Alan,

The Amsterdam train goes through Duesseldorf, Cologne then 'over the top' to Berlin & Dresden. Well it did about 2 years ago!! My girlfriend & I got the night-train to Prague from D/dorf & that's the route we took. At least that's what she told me coz I slept the whole night after one too many Altbiers

One thing though, watch at the Czech border for the wee customs guys who come on & try to say that your tickets are not 'in order' & ask for more money. I just pretended not to speak any English or German & gave them a thumbs up & a daft grin, sure enough the east German conductor (top guy fae Dresden) told them to p**s off. Apparently it's a regular occurrence (guys asking for money not me doing the thumb & grin stuff !!).

Enjoy yersel,
Gordon

Thanks Gogs,

just got me a wee bit confused now as the train times the lady at the Main trainstation quoted me were the exact same ones as Sacks mentioned at the top? Plus the carriages sleep between 4/6. As, I thought of joinin' up on this it didny make much sense of goin' backwards tae the Dam tae get tae Prague. Mabye DHD knows?
