Hmmmm. Anyone know what EB could stand for?
I've got a few ideas.......
To be fair, thay played well and Argentina did not. Doesn't mean I'm happy about it.
And, EB, I can support Argentina without being anti-English. It's their football team (and our nearest rivals)that I don't support. That doesn't make us an anti-nation - it makes us normal.

I was thinking more along the lines of Erse Bandit.
I thought England deserved to win, but not in the way they did.
Why did Beckham not get at least booked for his elbow in the face of that Argentine boy who had to go off with his nose gushing with blood?
Hope FIFA will look into this,

EB - Thank you for your good wishes. Really don't understand what is wrong with the rest of you - what a bitter little bunch you are. We've just (deservedly) beaten the best team in the world and you can't even find it in your hearts to congratulate us. I'm not sure why that is - we're not going to win this tournament so you're going to get your wish eventually, the least you can do in the meantime is recognise a good performance.

I have to grudgingly agree that you did deserve the win, and as for the dive in the box.........well had it been Scotland we would have accepted it gladly, no sense saying otherwise.
This does not mean I am happy about it all. Here I am living in England surrounded by St George flags and had to watch the game in a pub surrounded by hundreds of Englismen.
Please - please, go out sooner rather than later !

As far as the "dive in the box" is concerned, there definitely was contact from the Argentine defender which impeded the England player. From Owen's point of view, it was more intelligent to take the foul than try and stay on his feet and end up with nothing. We certainly had the better of the game overall - the Argentines were limited to two chances at best - we had four really good chances on target apart from the penalty.

England deserved to win but I certainly dont agree with the statement that youve just beaten the best team in the world.Argentina were dire ive seen much better teams in the tournament so that statement has to be a joke.

Maurice Mann: reality check. We are not bitter we are pissed off with the endless ramblings of the English media and their constent crap about England being a world force. We are tired of hearing about 1966, of that foot and of Michael Owen being the best striker in Europe. I suggest that you are the bitter one because England have not been and will not be capable of winning a world cup and you are clinging on to the past. We on the other hand like to remember the past but are looking to the future and dont need to mention our great times on every broadcast.

Got to grudgingly agree with previous comments. England played well and probably deserved to win. I wouldn't criticise Owen for going down but in the re-run of the game on ITV I did notice Beckham throw himself to the ground seconds before the ball went to Owen and Collina played on.
Finally on the comments regarding the anti-English things. I was accused of being racist today by my manager for wanting England to lose. I explained my views which I'm sure many can mirror. I'm not anti-English, I don't hate them as a nation and am sensible enough to recognise that there are many nice English people. They are sporting rivals and this is part of life - not hatred - just like why I don't like Morton as a St.Mirren fan. I also pointed out that I'm 19, I've been to 8 Scotland away games and the only place I've found unfriendly/unpleasant was London. The other thing is that my dad started taking me to football as a baby and I go to football every week - the only football match I have ever feared for my safety was when we met England.
This may help describe why many like me don't like to see England succeed and is not because we are an "anti-nation" as somebody put it.
