the suggestion a couple of my aussie mates came up with was to let the top 2 oceania team join the asian qualifiers (there not too fussed whether its the first round or final round) and let them battle it out that way - if they finish above suadi or china or whoever they qualify if not they dont.
Their perennial complaint is the Aussies play about 4 seriously competitive games every 4 years, NZ in the OCeania final and then Uruguay/Iran/Argentina/Scotland in the play offs whereas all the teams they meet have already got a fairly competitive campaign behind them and play regularly as a unit.
I'd quite like to see the aussies or kiwis at a world cup.

Point 1, there should be a representative of Oceana in everyt World Cup.
Point 2 The top 2 play in another league cause there own league is pash and they can get better competition elsewhere and then be able to conquer the world, maybe. GTF. Sounds too familiar.
Tell Australians to get some paddles and take their Island elsewhere. it's there fault that's where they are.
Emigrate to Scotland and play for us before you commit.

I feel badly for Australia because I believe that each confederation deserves a spot at the World Cup. I also felt bad that south America lost a spot, while Asia kept all four. The only reason they got four was because they were joint hosts and now they get to keep them despite the fact that the Saudis and Chinese were crap in the far east and South Korea and Japan have never won a World Cup match outside their country? FIFA is all about politics.
I think Australia should have to playoff against Asia, certainly not South America. The 94 Aussie team was quite strong. They beat a good Canada team on PKs and then held Argentina 0-0 in Sydney and lost 1-0 in Buenos Aires on a late deflected own-goal. They were certainly miles better than Greece.
I don't like the idea of inter-confederation playoffs on a large scale. I like having representation from all of the different regions. That being said, I would love to avoid travelling to central America to try to get to the world cup. No more noon starts on a Wednesday afternoon when it's 36C and humid. No more lumpy pitches with no grass, no more fans throwing piss (literally, not figuratively) at the players on the pitch. No more corrupt officiating (okay, less corrupt). Tartan Sheep I'll go to Lithuania if you want to go to El Salvador or Guatemala.
Oh and we're staring a 22-game World Cup qualifying proccess in the face. With almost all of our players based in Europe. It's going to be a long couple of years.
