Someone made a point on a Scotland v Germany post,  that was something like no club, England and Ireland tops at games.  Now I see the point of no clubs but the different national tops!  I am sure I saw a lad at the Korea game in an England top (wasn’t there but saw it on telly).
Now fair play to the guy if he comes and supports Scotland, he is doing England a favour being showing that they all trouble makers and it shows we can get on a bit with them.
Now ma Da wears an Ireland top when we go to Scotland games, and when I go over to see Ireland I wear my Scotland top and kilt.. Is this so bad?  What does everyone think? Am I being a big peace loving hippie?

No club tops. Don't care about other countries.
Why does your dad wear an Ireland top to Scotland games?

The guy wearing the England shirt at the S. Korea game was an English ex-pat who lived in Korea.

There's a real can of worms around wearing the opposition's top on match days.  Some people think it's a no-no some think it's quite acceptable.

Glad to see that the preposterous notion that people should be allowed to wear whatever top they want has been dismissed out of hand.

CUFC,
You've missed out big time on driving a hole through that argument. My biggest gripe is why do Scotland fans wear Brazil tops to games? What the fok do we have in common with Brazil? A big fat zero.
If we want to show affinity with the opposition, would these self same guys wear an England top wiith the kilt if we were playing England? I very much doubt it.
I believe it was big in England a few years ago to wear your club top when going to a game, especially if it was a smaller club, but that was probably the same time it was the done thing to take a union jack.
It is a personal thing and I don't think it adds anything to wear a club top. Then again, fans are probably wearing them as they can't buy blooming replica tops.

I agree with you CUFC. People should be allowed to wear whatever tops they want to games, club or international. The only people that have a problem with it are the Ars*holes that spend all day moaning about crap on this messageboard. Supporting the team is all that matters.

I've worn a Brazil top before, as i have an Argentina and Germany mainly because they had recently knocked England out of a major tournament and was quite happy about that! I know that will probably provoke a reply from CUFC but its just the way i am!

Don't see any problem in this, i also have a number of other countries strips that i wear whenever i want them to do well! Wouldn't wear that strip if they were playing against Scotland though but i don't see this as a major issue!

Wouldn't wear my club colours cos i'd probably be told to f*ck off and watch Ireland!

I haven't got a problem with that at all, although it must cost quite a bit to keep buying the tops of the teams that beat us

It just seems much more common with England than with Scotland (and I think with most other national teams' supports) to take your club identity with you - you still see all sorts of club shirts at home and away games and virtually every St George's will have a club team name on it as well.

I've seen it lead to problems once or twice but usually club differences are put aside at England games. And one of the things I enjoy most is meeting fans of other teams - it is always a good starting point for a conversation if you can easily establish what club someone supports.

Good point made there by CUFC (did i just write that?) What is the feeling about club names on saltires then if people are not to wear club colours?

I often see club names on saltires and personnally don't have a problem with that either!

Cause he is Irish.  And I know people will say then why does he come to Scotland games blah blah blah.  That is cause he has lived here for about 30 years, he still thinks of himself as Irish but Supports Scotland too.  And like I said I go over to see Ireland play wearing a kilt and Scotland top... have even seen England tops with the Irish fans (remember a lot of paddys love Mr Own and Beckham because of Liverpool and Man u).  Point is, if some one wears another countrys top and stands with us in support then wny not.

it was me that mentioned that club colour and ireland and england tops are a no no, why you might ask?
england and ireland tops are unfortionatly in the bracket of club colours because of the old firm connotations, and club colours because we're not supporting aberdeen, clyde, thisle, dunfirmline or falkirk! we're supporting scotland and the reputation of scotland!
wearing other international strips IMO is ok due to the fact we are friends with every other nation! including england because at the end of the day they are our brothers and we have jointly won a war together the fifth in the last centuary!

we're on the march with bertie's army, we're going to the portugal! and we'll really shake them up when we win the euro cup cause scotland are the greatest football team!

When I go to watch Scotland it is them first and foremost, no club colours and certainly not another international team. It done my fukin head in in lithuania when some kunt in a Lithuanian top isn't even watching the game and looking up to the rest of the stand shouting "get behind the team!" thats good coming from some kunt that's wearing the opposition colours!!! I like getting mementos from the game but during that 90 minutes its scotland and scotland only.
