With Ireland receiving a lot of press attention at the World Cup I would have hoped that they would have used the opportunity to sell 2008 but I haven't heard it mentioned! No banners at the games or anything! I don't think they're putting enough effort in.

The closest thing to this board they have is at
foot.ie
There's been no chat about it as far as I can see since I posted on it a few months ago. Mibbe they should be asked if they fancy setting up a euro2008 forum like the one on this board.

Aye - it's a good opportunity missed but, to be fair to the Irish, they weren't even sure they would be co-hosting when they left for the Far East.
So you can understand why nothing was organised.
Let's convince our own countries first. Then we can concentrate on Europe, UEFA and the rest of the world.

Opinionated Wind Bag |
Caught something on the news this morning before coming into work. Some Irish official was saying that Irelnds success (and that was before they won today) could only help the joint bid and he thought the reputation of both sets of fans would go along way in convincing UEFA to accept our bid.

Aye Mongoose,
it was FAI General Secretary, Brendan Menton, and he's the first guy I've seen/heard talking about it.
There are meant to be a few "new" 2008 banners out there AND "new" 2008 t-shirts, but huvnae seen anything.
Lets hope they win the Best Fans award as well as the world cup

Banners that advertise anything are not allowed to be hung inside the ground. FIFA rules!

I think it's mainly flags that have names of pubs on them that are getting stopped. It's ridiculous!
Cheers for the welcome notes. Good to see some of ye on foot.ie.
The one way system in Cork is designed to try and stop people from leaving! Millions are spent each year in Cork because toursists just can't get out of the place!

Like that bridge where you have to drive on the right-hand side of the road. It's madness.
