Planning on spending New Year in Prague. Would rather stay in an apartment near the main square, than a hotel. I'm sure as plenty of TA have been there before they must have a few recomendations.

Rampant Lion,
Try http://www.marys.cz they sorted us out for the game in 99 & we've used them twice since.
Great apartments as central as you want to stay(we stayed a wee bit further out coz it was cheaper & so was the beer )
They can arrange transfers & you get a free city tour for every person staying.
Enjoy yourself!

Go to the information in Prague itself. When there in 1999 we got an apartment 2 minutes from the Square across from the Big Tesco with a bar underneath which sold beer for about 25p a pint. Cannae mind the street name though. I wiz always PISSSShED.

Wife and I stayed in what they call a "Pension" apartment which was cheap and very clean. There ar eplenty available, and are one down from hotels in price, but not in quality.I think it was either 2 or 3 star, but you can be quite confident over quality. It was near the river, a wee bit from the square, but trams are dead cheap, and made easy by a travel pass which costs buttons. Meals in the pesion were £12 for two, 4 courses including drinks! Will look it up if you need it.
