Eh?

I thought it was "Morocco"

Are you just working your way down the index of an atlas for a laugh?

Never been to Moscow myself but I remember there's a chapter on it in Ronnie McDevitt's book "We'll Support you Evermore".  Sounded like a great laugh.  One of the hotels, the St. Petersburg if I remember right, was run by a Scotsman who fed and watered the visiting TA for free.  Put on a stripper show for them as well.  Absolute class.

Kilt,

I stayed at the Hotel Mayak when I was in Moscow for the millennium celebrations. It's easy to get to on the metro (Fili is the nearest). It was clean and comfortable, although I got a bit worried about it's cleanliness when postcards which had fallen down the back of the bed were forwarded by a Yankee tourist in APRIL. Seriously, though, it was fine and relatively cheap. Cannot remember the name of the hotel when we were there in 1995, however.

As for things to see and do, get hold of a guide through the Marlis agaency. Well worthwhile. We spent six hours on New Year's Day 2000 wandering around on foot (naturally imbibing en route) and saw all the major (and some minor) attractions.

Kilt;

Forget the trip to the Ukraine Hotel to meet the Scot who provided free everything for the troops in '95. Jacko is now in Venezuela, ran oot of toon by the Mafia.

Hotel in '95 wis the Izmailovo, built for the Olympics in 1980. As someone no' too keen on heights, the 26th floor wisnae a favourite wae myself.

Still have a few contacts over there if ye need any more info.
