I think I might fly to Copenhagen on the Monday, have the day and a night there. Tuesday take the ferry or the new road link into Sweden, and head for Gothenburg. 'Pilgrimage' to the Ullevi Stadium (I'm a Dons fan) then a night in the city. Wednesday go through to Oslo on the train.
Three nights out in three different cities in three different countries, I reckon that'd be first class. Anyone else think so? I'm no gonnae dae it on ma ain!

Sounds interesting Andy (especially the pilgrimage part!).

Cheers for that TS, I'm going to think about it in a lot more depth after next week's trip.
I was too young to go to Ullevi, saw it when we flew over Gothenburg on way to Estonia though.

Never even been close to Gothenburg before (well, no closer than Copenhagen anyway). May not do anything about this trip until after Lithuania next Easter, but it definitely sounds appealing. At least, unlike prices on the budget airlines, the rail pass prices will not change as we get nearer to the time.

Sounds good fun to me as well - have been to Gothenburg 3 times before and loved it on every occassion - have never been to Copenhagen but I've always fancied it. Sounds good fun !

We should get a decent number going then. Better still, I'm sure Easyjet fly to copenhagen and Ryanair will fly us home from Oslo, cheap and cheerful.
Keep in touch boys.

You're right Andy - Easyjet (or Go, actually) do fly from London Stansted to Copenhagen. Current price is about £70 one way, but once they open up the flights for August next year, I guess booking quickly will get a better price.
Instead of travelling back from Oslo (or 2 hours away from Oslo, which is where the airport Ryanair fly to is), you could always travel back to Gothenburg and fly back to London Stansted from there - according to Ryanair's website, they fly to Gothenburg City Airport which sounds like it must be close to the city!

Something to say |
After the last Scotland game in Prague we got the train back up through Germany and into Scandinavia, visiting Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Stokholm, Oslo and Bergen, before getting the ferry back to Newcastle.
It was a fantastic trip, and the trains in Scandinavia are brilliant. A good idea might be to get night trains. The sleepers don't cost much on top of your normal fare, it saves you paying for expensive Scandanavian hotels and wasting the day-time travelling.

Goodpoint, PK.
Well, thanks for bringing this up, Andy. Wisnae too sure how I would get permission for this trip just before Germany.
Firstly mentioned to the missus that a wee trip to Oslo might be nice - especially as a few of the lads winnae be able to afford it.
Then saw this thread and started hatching a Scandanavian tour plan.
Then finally pitched it to her tonight:
Oor main holiday next year - cheap flight to the Dam (she's never been, so she's well up for that!), couple of days there then travel up to Copenhagen. Few days there then travel on to Oslo for a couple of days wi' the TA. Then back through Sweden to Copenhagen and back to the Dam and a cheap flight home.
Unbelievably, it has met with initial positivity!!
Ya dancer! Here we go...............

sounds like a late summer holiday. Train from Den Haag to Copenhagen is only about 7-8 hours so i can avoid flying again.
Barry Buckley, give us a shout if you ever come up to the big City (Den Haag),there's a good crowd of us always watching games we can't make it to.There's also a big mob down in Valkenburg (the one near Maastricht) that go to most away games.
