Match Report
It was a bitterly cold day in Aberdeen for this EURO 2000 qualifying clash. A fair Scotland support as well as over 700 Faeroese supporters had made the journey.
Scotland began well, and first half goals from Craig Burley (21") and recent goal hero Billy Dodds (45") saw them looking comfortable winners as they went in for half time. Dodds manged to get himself booked and therefore misses the next match against Bosnia!
However, optimism of any easy win was not what fans should have been thinking. The Faeroes came out in the second half with a more positive attitude and harried a very lacklustre Scotland quite worryingly. Fans were back to nailbiting towards the end as Colin Hendry conceeded a penalty which was easily converted to make it 2-1.
Summary: A win for Scotland and three more points in the bag. However, Scotland were lacklustre and had continued their recent trend of appalling performances. There is certainly dissatisfaction among certain factions of the ranks as we have now struggled badly against against minor opposition during our first three qualifying matches.
Man of the Match - Davidson (first cap, worked very hard all game)
