GET A LIFE!!!

Hopefully you guys can help, as I'm at a bloody loss..

I've built a website partly through notepad, but mostly through FrontPage 2002.  Now, the problem is finding a cheap host that is compatible with Frontpage developed sites?

Does anyone have any ideas, or advice about what to do next?  I tried to upload it to my free Freeserve space to see what it would be like, but unfortunately Freeserve hasn't installed the 'Frontpage Server Extensions' required for me to upload this site..

(Fuggin MSN, why release a web developing bit of software, that limits where you can put the bloody site!)

Also could do with some advice about buying the domain name for this site cheaply.

Any advice welcomed

Cheers for the heads-up TAC, I managed to get it hosted onto Tripod.com for free just now until I finish building it, then I'm going to try and find an ad free host that supports FrontPage 2002 builds.  Plan on making it a far bigger site than it is, and looking to buy the domain name as well when I get a chance..

The very first NATA Online was built using FP2000 - you can see a reduced archive at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/netleyabbeyta/

I originally tried to use the FP extensions counter etc, however it worked out too expensive when I could just use free services from companies like Bravenet.  These days I pay for business hosting and can use them if I want (but I'm on DreamWeaver now anyway).

Ask yourself if what you had planned to use them for are worth the extra outlay?

There's a page on the current NATA Online designed to help point out where I went wrong myself, and what worked and didn't work for me: http://netleyabbeytartanarmy.net/website.htm - hopefully it may help.

By the way - I've had a look and it looks great (apart from the US style date!).  I think you could go places with it, and give it a unique something with your cartoons (a Morton fanzine does it here: http://www.justonecornetto.co.uk/skunks/skunks1.htm ).

One thing that really helped us promote our site was business cards - we got them dirt cheap from Vista Print.  I'd recommend buying a site name first - you can get them dirt cheap at http://www.ukreg.com/ (.co.uk are cheaper, but I didn't want uk on my site!)

Cheers for the link - let me know when it gets a fixed home and I'll get your link on the NATA site.

Try this site for your domain names http://www.soho-uk.com/

I used it for my business domain names.....just do a quick search to see what's available, and buy it. Quick and Easy

Cheers LL.  Already got the name bought, and up and running.  Used a company called domaincity.co.uk, and got the address for £10 for 2 years.  Not a bad price at all I thought..  Still building the site though, as we keep getting more and more ideas to add all the time.  Still, it's at http://www.crackofdawn.co.uk if anyone is interested.

I'm with Blueyonder (or Telewest) and they give you a 30Mb site for free. I've just got the bog standard internet connection and phone package (no Broadband). I built my parent's webpage with FrontPage2000. [www.touchotartan.com]
