Does anyone else get the feeling the SFA are waiting on the outcome of the 2008 bid before announcing the veune?
I reckon they'll take it to Murrifield if we get it, which would be nice....

I cant help feeling it would have been better if this game was played this wed rather than the portugal game. It would have given us a opertunity to show uefa that we can put on a party and behave together.

This would be best played in Aberdeen or Edinburgh,IMO.
There is less chance of the game being hijacked by loyalist sympathisers, which would be a f***ing nightmare.Every knuckledragging moron in Scotland will want a ticket as it is.We'll need to marginalise these guys, and make the irish very very welcome.
Good thing the game is being played AFTER 2008 has been decided.

Good point mate. That would be a nightmare. If we have got 2008, i agree that Murrayfield would be ideal.

I agree Aberdeen would be a better venue for this game ,it is a potential time bomb with those who would like to see the bid wrecked and the Tartan Army dragged through the mud,the thought of fans with little interest in supporting either country battling on the streets is a worrying one.It would also be great for the city with its direct link to Ireland to have a large Irish support in town.

Something to say |
I agree as well it is just to much of a risk for this game to go wrong, also what sort of atmosphere does it create for us if it is played in Hampden,I certainly don't want to be sitting beside guys waving union jacks not to support Scotland but to wind up the Irish support .Aberdeen would be the best bet anyone trying that on at Pittodrie would be quickly put out.

I can see where some of ye are coming from but I dinni think the capacity of Pittodrie is big enough for this fixture.

Hamden for me, imo, i think the interest from both sets of fans will outnumber the biggots.

Burst.. how would you react if someone unfurled a union jack over your heid, during the game?
I'd probably get done for manslaughter!
I'd prefer a limited public sale,in a smaller stadium, with most tickets going to STC members.
Worst case scenario:30 -40 combat 18 skinheids in Rangers tops, sitting together in the North stand at Hampden. With their 200 mates up from England for the weekend. It's a recipe for disaster. We'd never fill hampden for this game anyway, not even with the confused Celtic fans turning up.

I agree that Pittodrie is to small for a game like this if we have got 2008, so host it at Murrayfield. If 2008 has been confirmed, the demand for tickets will be astronomical and playin on the East Coast would minimise the bigotry problem.
Also allow the TA to experience football at Murryfield, never mind the players and the SFA.

If we can't even trust ourselves to host a game with Ireland then we should forget about Euro 2008 right now.

The prospect of sectarian shite is deeply unattractive, but then there wasn't really much of that in the Dublin game two years ago (apart from Ferguson/McCann being booed by the Celtic fans in the Ireland end). Hopefully it will pass without incident. I would rather have played someone else though, maybe a Nordic team to prepare for the Iceland fixture the following month.
