Can we please try and have an away trip without club colours being on show. I'm sure as it's a biggie there will also be plenty SI and Lacoste going about but lets leave club colours and prejudices at home. If any punters wear their club colours then please remember that Rangers and Celtic fans have as much right to support their country as everybody else and should not (as usually happens) be ridiculed for it. How do you expect these people to support their country if they are openly abused for supporting their team. Let's all remember we are their to watch Scotland and hopefully see a Scotland victory. Rant over.

I think the problem with that idea colonel, is that the people who read this board are a small minority of the Tartan Army.
As such, you're plea is unlikely to reach some/most of the folks that wear club colours to Scotland games.

In my opinion, if they want to wear club tops, let em. As long as they are supporting Scotland, who cares?
Personally though, I wouldn't wear club colours myself.

I agree it is preferrential choice, I myself wear tartan, or colours relating to the national team, I just think the fashion cops make to much of an issue about it, as long as they support the whole team and not prefered individuals.

I have mixed feelings on this....

I reckon it is okay to take club colours with you and wear them on long trips away; (WorldCup, Euro Championships), or in this case I'll be in Germany for a week so I don't see a problem with me a Hibs top at some point during this time.

However I would not wear one on match day nor the big night before party....that is purely for Scotland attire.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum, because I'm planning to have a Scotland top with Brummie Hibs on the back, but I cannae be bothered if some twat is going to come up and give me verbal for it. (I've had verbal before abroad for wearing a club top while just doing a bit of sightseeing, and that pissed me off no end)

And what about the fans that have club tatoos?  They will be in a bit of difficulty leaving them at home?

As a footnote, I would be more than delighted to see Scottish fans wearing Rangers and Celtic tops, as it would maybe restore a bit of faith in them!...but just not on match day!!

I dont see why people cant wear club tops while travelling to Germany but match day should be Scotland colours only. I dont see why its anybody`s business what someone else is wearing anyway!

The only reason it bothers me is that people are all usually bevvied and old club rivalries take over. I don't watch club football anynore so i don't have a club top to wear. Just my opinion and that of many others which i am entitled to have. If you feel the need to wear a club strip while on "National service" then thats up to you but surely club tops can be worn the other 48 weeks of the year when we're not following Scotland. As you said earlier it's up to you.

I think people should only wear 'wee teams' colours. Subsequently as of this season I will no longer be able to wear my Dundee Utd top to Scotland games (after all we will be challenging the Old firm!)

Seriously though I don't see the need to wear club colours at all. It's a bit like going to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers with a Kylie Minogue T-shirt on.
Kylie's good like, but not appropriate for that occasion.

Cheers

Is there any need for TA's to wear the national shirts of the opposition team? Or viking horns...or heidi wigs....or dutch caps?  Afterall we are there to see Scotland!!!

Has anybody who has worn a kilt with the oppostition's national shirt been given verbal from a self proclaimed TA preacher who'll spout the unwritten rules of the TA at them?

colonel. good point.
i've noticed recently not so many club shirts. even wee teams have rivals therefore no exceptions.
after returning from lithuania I posted re the abuse from mainly aberdeen fans to the OF. hopefully this sh*te wont happen again, too many OF fans going this trip.

does my head in you think it is ok to wear wee teams colours e.g aberdeen, clyde ,partick etc. yet wear an OF strip and you get hunted.

teecee,
I was joking about the wee team thing!

Personally I wouldn't have a go at anyone wearing a club top at a game but I have heard people do it & it does ruin the general atmosphere a wee bit.

If people want to wear a club top to a game then fair enough, but some people will always (rightly or wrongly) have a wee dig or worse.

Cheers
Gordon

I agree that wearing club colours is the choice of the individual although I think they should disappear on match day. The wearing of the opposition's top is a tricky one. Lots do it but I remember getting pissed off at reports of the great Brasil support in 1998 which on closer inspection on many occasions turned out to be TA in yellow tops enjoying themselves with samba drums.
Same inside the ground when you looked round at the colours - a false impression.
On second thoughts who cares?
What the fcuk - bring on the Gemans.....

Don't see why people should have to wear club colours as they spend all season wearing them watching their club. Nothing against them doing it, just looks a bit odd.

I know some people may argue that they can't afford a Scotland shirt, but just borrow a t-shirt/strip from someone maybe? God knows I've got a dozen at least! Not that I'm offering them right enough!

Wear what you want, its a free country.

And to those people who will undoubtedly have a go at people who do wear a club top, GTF. who died and made you king for the day.

When in Tallin a few years back I witnessed someone getting a bar stool smashed on his head because he dared to wear a Partick top. The strange thing was that the attacker was at the Finland v Germany game 2 days earlier wearing a kilt and Hibs top.

Double Standards ?

aw this extreme pash aboot whit tae wear or whit no. These guys that go extreme aboot it are thugs and that pr*ck in Tallinn sounds like he should be charged for assault. There is no excuse, fitba tops or not and people should learn that. He's a criminal full stop.

personally widnae wear stupif club fitba tops anyway. with a range of scotland gear, jacobite taps, piper's jackets, kilts, glengarrys, jimmy hats, jacobite hats, TAMB shirts and various t-shirts from various TAs from ATAC there's more than enough gear tae choose from.

It makes us the TA it sets us apart fae the ither fitba fans aroon the world (the Irish fans are often compared to su but they're no a patch on us - just jeans and fitba tops fur them) the colour the attire the cameraderie - it's like a festival a carnival - gie me that any day - bring on norway, faroes and germany
