GET A LIFE!!!

Not sure if this would work but thought I would throw it into the pot.

A couple of years ago, Partick brought out a listing of businesses owned/run by fans of the club.  The idea was that when choosing a joiner/lawyer/pub, you would be happy to put your business to a fellow fan.  I have no idea how well this worked but thought it might be worth thinking about in line with the Sunshine Appeal.

Either businesses could pay for a listing (which may well be difficult to achieve with no track record), or they could agree that in return for being listed they will pay a percentage of business referred to them by that route.  Would probably work better as a website than hardcopy so would need some webspace/techie people to help out.

Any thoughts on whether this could work?

Jaggy to me it is a great idea, and one I have often thought about in the past, in fact I had a discussion about this very subject with one of the board members on Sunday.
Lets be honest people would rather deal with people they knew or knew by association and I am sure anyone offering products or services would ensure that they offered excellent service and quality at a competitive price.
The only reservation I have is that some people might see this as people trying to make money from the TA which is generally frowned upon but as no-one is forced into buying anything or any service from any of the guys/companies listed and if they do something goes into the appeal, I can't really see any reason for anyone having a genuine grievance.
I am very interested to see what the thoughts are about this proposal from the members of the board.
I suppose one other potential avenue for dissention within the ranks could be if something went wrong on the business front between a buyer and seller, but I would suggest that any such situations be dealt with between the two parties and had no bearing on the board.

Don't think it would be a problem if anything went wrong between buyer & seller - if I pick a duff plumber out of the phone book I can't sue BT.

Before anyone raises it/implies it/suggests it/thinks it - I have no ulterior motive and no product/service which I am looking to advertise/sell.  I would however be happy to push my business the way of fellow footsoldiers.

I've often thought about this as well. A few months back I needed a plumber and ended up paying more than £200 to get work done that took 50 minutes to do.

While no-one is looking for financial favours from an association, a "marketplace" like this could be helpful. If the appeal was to benefit, so much the better.

By the way, as I felt ripped off by this plumber, I have sent his firm a bill for the use of my ladder and labour charges for keeping the taps straight while he connected the pipes.

Thats funny Ruary, so did I!!

I totally agree with your post and dont think it would be a problem, at the end of the day, if the Sunshine Appeal makes a few quid, great.

Everyone; I might start a new forum for this announcement-type topics where a member can post its message and I would lock it immediatelly afterwards.

Do you think this might work?
