All the best in your Sunshine Appeal.
I'm a Welsh fan and when we travelled to Azerbaijan last week we took along a load of footballs, t-shirts, duffle bags with toothbrushes, biros and toothbrushes and cuddly toys and we also took along four full football kits.
We donated the stuff on visiting various orphanages and also managed to raise well over £1500 by raffling off signed shirts and various nick-nacks.
The money was donated to the charities working with the orphanages and to a charity working with disabled people.
We're hoping to arrange something for our visit to Belgrade in April too.
I hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but I just wanted to let you know that it is a VERY humbling but rewarding experience and to wish you ALL THE BEST.
Pob Lwc!

We were lucky in that most of us travelled to Baku on the same flight, so we had a captive audience as far as selling raffle tickets was concerned!
We made over $400 (US) on the flight alone!
The FAW gave us a signed shirt and a signed pair of shorts and the 1927 club (London based Cardiff City fans) managed to raise about £600 by raffling/auctioning off a signed City shirt and a pair of VIP tickets to Ninian Park (kindly donated by Sam Hamam).
We also wrote to the clubs which have players in our squads - most were helpful (some were not!).

Absolutely brilliant effort Gary and thanks for coming and sharing your experiences with us on this board. As GG says any help you can offer will be very much appreciated. We are as I am sure the Welsh are just a bunch of football supporters who are trying to put just a little back.

Cheers for taking the time to post here Gary and letting us know about Azerbaijan.
I think the captive audience on the flight might well be taken note off!

Well done Gary; thanks for sharing your experience
Ruary, this might be a good idea - to contact SFA or players to have one (only one) signed shirt and later on to make auction for that.
I think each player gets two (or more) shirts per game?

Was it a REALLY big plane, or a small away support - I think we should be told.

aye, fight and you may die - run and you will live, for at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing, to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, JUST ONE CHANCE TO COME BACK HERE AND TELL OUR ENEMIES THAT THEY MAY TAKE OUR LIVES, BUT THEYLL NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOM!!!

Great stuff Gary - it's amazing how it escalates once the ball starts rolling.
Also nice to think that these kids will have a good view of footie fans, especially after the life us adults have given them so far.
Good luck with all your future ideas & ventures.
