GET A LIFE!!!

In the light of other posts slagging off "The Bucket", I propose an online petition to "Save The Bucket"

There are too many people who do not realise what an important piece of kit "The Bucket"is.

Cheers Bob.

Looks to me like some people take exception to other people expressing a personal opinion. This greatly saddens me. I'm starting to feel like I might be the next "sonny" - outcast by the TAMB for daring to argue for what I believe in.

May I just say that the bucket obviously takes in a lot of money - which is probably a good thing. I just dislike the emotional pressure they put on people. Does this really make me a bad man?

This thread was not needed...

That was what I though as well TAC,
however according to GG in the other thread,
you are only allowed to post the opinions if he and others from the inner sanctum deem they are constructive!

Keep the bucket!

I walk past people in the street collecting for charity every day and dont put anything in, as I'm sure most of you do.

Same applies here IMO

Tam - I don't consider myself to be part of the inner sanctum. I've only been fortunate to be privy to the thoughts and actions of a number of selfless people who have through informality made a success of something. But my apologies if that is offensive to you and others.

My active role in the SA has been anonymous to the point of little other than buying a badge or whatever.  what i have contributed is opinion and constructive criticism. But just because I used the word constructive, you seem to have read into that that all the steering group want to hear is fawning praise. They don't. What they want to hear is how to make a good thing - something that has helped a number of people - become even better. Where in that is there a role or a need for snide remarks? Just because it's constructive doesn't mean it has to be praisworthy.

You, quite rightly, defend unjustified and uninformed sniping aimed at ATAC. So why take a counter stance and get all snooty when it comes to other people's activities?

How exasperated would you be if your mailbox filled up with negativity? You don't need it, the SA doesn't need it, so why snipe at people who only want to manage a situation with the minimum of fuss?

sorry GG,
I thought I was puting some constructive ideas forward.
Actually correct that, not me putting ideas forward, just agreeing with other people suggestions.

And for the record I have been very vocal in praise for the work and effort so far.

Too make something good, better someone said.
I'm all for that, hence the postings.

"If it aint broke don't fix it".....well it looks like the SA will just have to stay "good" and not "better"

Ah well.

There`s always a chance it becomes better the way it`s been running already?

That would be really be something.

It certainly hasn`t been standing still in the year or so I have been watching it grow.

Did anyone else notice this as well from the outer sanctum?

In saying that it is an easy way to get money for a good cause & i have let it pass me by a few times (tight bastard i know) when i havent had that much cash to spare

There`s an element of emotional pressure all the time unfortunately in other aspects of fundraising for the Sunshine Appeal and events run by various Tartan Army branches for charities or funds.

It`s something we all need to be conscious of and I think the majority are, when selling badges etc.  It is difficult sometimes not to go into salesperson mode when you want shot of leftover socks or to get rid of the last race card at a race night or something like that.  As long as people know what its for first you hope they will feel comfortable declining.  (As you should too Geordieboy )

I am really hopefull that this is my last post on the subject and no doubt that hope is held by others. However I must express that I am saddened if any of the comments made have been seen as unconstructive if not a bit unclear as to which comments are seen to be so.

I am further saddened that some people seem to think that objection to buckets has something to do with the manner in which the collection has been conducted, despite my attempts to explain that this is not the case. I just want to clear this up once and for all. My objection is a universal one and is no reflection whatsoever on anyone I have encountered collecting for the SA because I have never seen any collector exert any pressure in this case.

That is not to say pressure does not exist. Pressure and buckets cannot be separated and this is one of the reasons that this method of collection is so successful (I thought that was a given). Its easy to say you just don't have to put anything in, for some its not that easy to actually carry this through and such people's feelings are not immaterial. We aren't all the same and hopefully this at least can be accepted and not just dismissed.

However I have no doubt buckets are here to stay because I am quite well aware of the key role they play in fundraising.

Hopefully that's me done.
