tell him you need to meet someone in there to get your tickets / give them their tickets
tell him there`s plenty parking spaces at the Pandora,
tell him you have to go there to pick up
badges or t-shirts
walk by the pub and suddenly feel faint, and tell him you need a seat and a strong drink

I did have a vague recollection of reading somewhere that there's going to be roadworks on the M8 in the evening, so I think that's going to go in my favour of leaving earlier, so maybe make it for the back o' 4 ish.
