Hi
Congrats on Saturday - didnt see the game but it was a good result by all accounts.
If anyone saw the Ireland-Albania match on Sky, you might have noticed a colourful and noisy crowd behind one of the goals. They are the fans of the local eircom league, who often dont get tickets due to corporate block-booking, but were allocated a section to bring some life back to the often quiet Lansdowne crowd.
Its nothing as well organised as the Tartan Army, but its a start anyway.
Here's a few pics:

Tartan Army - organised? You must be thinking of someone else
Haven't seen the Ireland game, but it sounds like you got out of jail in injury time. All the best for the rest of the qualifiers and hopefully meet you for a beer in Portugal.

Photos are great.
Reminds me of our friendly match in 2000. Lansdowne is a brilliant stadium wth a great atmosphere. I was loving the terracing there. Wish we could go back to terraces everywhere instead of sitting at games. Totally kills the atmosphere. That's why Saturday was good again at Hampden because everyone was standing.
All the best to Ireland tomorrow night.

Hate to put a damper on things, but the attendances and quality of the Irish league are shocking, and the U21's side look awful. 1-0 down at home to georgia is not good.

Sure they will give Averladze abuse tonight. Peasants.
Dublin spoiled by a large percentage of your support abusing Ferguson and McCann, plus a few anti-Scots out and about in town.
Don't even ask about the Hampden game.

Good luck tonight.

Why should they cheer them, they're not Irish. So your not allowed to boo the oposition now in case you upset some paranoid old firm fan. If that spoiled your time in Dublin then nae luck. Who do you think you are?

Singling out 2 players for outright sectarian abuse is acceptable to any Scotland fan?
Numerous people on this board have mentioned hassle they received from folk in Dublin.
Scottish/British this and that, start swimming etc etc with very unpleasant overtones, so take a f@ck to yourself FZ. I enjoyed myself personally.
Why do you think you are? WWWOOOOOOOOOOOO

I Have generally received some form of hassle from locals on most trips I have been on....because you can't expect everyone to welcome you with open arms. But I didn't cry about it. I found the Ireland fans to be no exception to the rule, however sectarian abuse was at a minimum. I think they have much more reason to complain to us about their treatment over here where I saw more sectarian abuse than I ever thought I would. So take your arrogance TT and shove it where the sun don't shine, just coz you support Scotland doesn't mean that everyone is going to accept your small minded Ideas about why People having a go at RANGERS players spoiled the trip.....and that was what you said. People like you can't enjoy anything without whining on about something.

Was merely stating the facts.
Attended the game with, amongst others, cousins from Donegal and they were not best pleased either. You cannot dispute that it did not happen and many comments were overtly sectarian.
Was referring to the game being marred which should have been a classic meeting of similar fans.
You don't know me, the facts were stated and have been mentioned on this forum many times previously.
So why state different? Arrogance?
Who do you think you are?

I was at the Ireland game with my better half who's from Dublin. We sat up near the Irish fans but in the Scotland end. She too was dissapointed that the Rangers players were being booed. However, this was being done by Scottish Celtic fans and not the "real" Irish fans. They were heard singing about Larrson towards the end of the game too.

Have to agree with McChef it was ned Celtic fans that was the problem. I was in the Ireland end to keep my Da company and got not one bit of abuse (was kilted and had my Scotland top on), even though I was ranting we should hammered them (and we should have) But after they game had a few arguments with Celtic fans leaving the ground who called me a hun kunt.
My Da is from Galway and my ma from Donegal. I have never had any problem in the south; they seem more laid back (They even support England!!!). But have had a lot of abuse in the north, I think that they are so close to Ulster that the bitterness carries over. Dublin is a city that is overcrowded like hell and has a lot more neds than Glasgow could ever imagine so your bound to get abuse their, and they rip you off with the price of bevvy. Lets face it, there are places in Scotland were the Irish wouldn't be made welcome. And how many of us have had abuse down south? I have even been spat village in Catalonia for having a Scotland top on. People are kunts all over the place.

We do have a few morons who have booed Rangers players. However it is very much the minority. I'm hoping they don't have tickets for tonight as it has happened mainly during friendly matches.
There is no issue with the Scottish fans. I'd love if we met in a major tournament - would be some party.
As for the 2000 game my memories of that are not good - pathetic performance and we made no noise - Tartan army sang all through the game although "Shall we sing a song for you" did hurt. :-) February game was much better.
