GET A LIFE!!!

Well, I hope we get Wales.  I've never been to the Millenium Stadium yet and I'd love to go there and see a full house.  Cardiff's a good city - easy to get to - there'd be loads of us there.  And here we go...worst case scenario...they qualify instead of us...IMAGINE THE PARTY THAT NIGHT.  The first time they'll have qualified in 50 years.  I'll be so made up for them that I'd swallow my disappointment and join in the fun - and I'm sure there's a few more of us think that way too.

Don't talk to me about that egg-chasing

I hate rugby with a vengance, and to see their excuse for a team suffering such a misrble season was second only to our glorious run in the qualifiers so far.

Thats how I feel about the Scotland rugby union team! (bizarrely have never minded Welsh rugby union as much)

Am I correct in saying that Norway cannot qualify after last nights defeat in Bosnia?

OK, bored and trying to kill time until ra morra, so here's my 10 2nd placed teams after hours of analysis and closing my eyes and sticking a pin into the group tables (with possibilities in brackets for the close groups).

Group 1: Slovenia
Group 2: Denmark (Norway, Romania)
Group 3: Czech Republic (Holand)
Group 4: Poland (Hungary)
Group 5: Scotland
Group 6: Spain
Group 7: England (Turkey)
Group 8: Belgium (Croatia)
Group 9: Wales
Group 10: Russia (Ireland, Switzerland)

It should be a lot clearer after Wednesday but if we are not to win the group, then I think Slovenia, Poland and Wales offer our best chances at progression in the play-offs, but every team offers a tough conest.

Talks too much

Ok thats the football side of it, but what play-off would make the best TA trip.

My Choices:-

1. Wales (cheap an easy to get to- good laugh with the welsh)
2. Latvia (Cheap beer, Cheap hotels, a healthy  respect  for lap dancing bars, Eastern European women)
3.Holland (amsterdam-- say no more)

Worst TA Trip:-
1. Engerlund- Hooligans
2. turkey - Hooligans
3. Poland - Ugly tree fall victims

OK, not many groups are much clearer:

Group 1: Slovenia (definate)
Group 2: Norway (maybe Bosnia or Romania or Denmark)
Group 3: Holland (definate)
Group 4: Hungary (maybe Latvia)
Group 5: Scotland
Group 6: Spain (outside chance Greece)
Group 7: England (maybe Turkey)
Group 8: Belgium (maybe Croatia)
Group 9: Wales (definate)
Group 10: Russia (maybe Switzerland or Ireland)

Norway beat them away and drew at home.
Romania are effectively out -  the only thing they can hope for is that Luxembourg don't get beat by Norway and Bosnai beat Denmark = Nae chance.

Current  table is

Teams Pld W D L GS GA Pts
Denmark 7 4 2 1 14 8 14
Romania 8 4 2 2 21 9 14
Bosnia-Herzegovina 7 4 0 3 6 7 12
Norway 7 3 2 2 8 5 11
Luxembourg 7 0 0 7 0 20 0

Norway are at home to Luxembourg and Denmark away to Bosnia. Bosnia won 2-0 in Denmark, so anything is possible in that game. Assuming Norway win, they are on 14 points but they'll beat Romania.
If Denmark lose they'll be on 14 but when you put the 3 teams results together, Denmark come out on top.
So, it looks like Denmark are guaranteed at least second, Bosnia only have a chance at first and Norway need Denmark to not lose in Bosnia to get second.

I'd rather have Norway as far as qualifying goes....

Aye, anything is possible in Group 2 but...

So far, Bosnia played 3 times vs Denmark.
for World Cup 98 qualifications:
in Sarajevo BiH - Den 3-0
in Copenhagen Den-BiH 2-0

for Euro 2004 qualifications:
in Copenhagen Den-BiH 0-2

Next game is being played in Zenica, 50 km away from Sarajevo (where Bosnia beat Norway). It is hellish crowd there as the stadium holds only 20,000 but it is always full. And it is proper football ground; the pitch lines just 2 meters away from the stands.

I would be very surprised if Denmark can do anything there.
