Given that you wont be able to give your money away when you get there £350 sems fine to me.

We don't know if we can make it yet thought..

Dianne - there is nae way you will be able to drink £187 worth of beer on top of what ye were already planning over just three days!
That would be over 100 pints a day extra - even in the places up toon!
What a challange though!

Dinnae fancy 8 lads sharing an apartment either - we had 5 sharing two rooms when we were there in '99 - and I wouldnae do that again in a hurry!
Afraid mean' the missus are stumping up a tenner each for oor accomodation - Prague 2 - couple of hundred metres from the South end of Wenceslas Square.

Still no' bad for a whole apartment tae yerselves, though!

Well, the Czechs lost every single one of their group matches, conceding 23 goals and scoring only 6...

Seem to remember we beat them narrowly at home the last time (1-0?) and got humped away by 2 or 3 goals. (Sure somebody will soon correct me if I'm wrong!!)
They were in oor qualifying group in the last tourny (2/3 yrs ago) - got promoted and are now coming straight back doon (wi' any luck!).

Obviously the standard is a lot higher in the top groups.

Didn't really want to point this out anyway but...

http://www.uefa.com/competitions/WOCO/AllTimeStatistics/Season=2001/round=1258/Group=1066.html

Anyway the team has improved a fair bit in the last couple of years so let's get out there and roar the team on to a win and get a bit magoo'ed as well.

Speaking to  a mate last night who was just back from Prague. He got the sleeper train from Amsterdam,14hours overnight,no changes and for a cost of 172 euros (last minute booking). Train has a bar and you get a "cabin" that sleeps either 4 or 6. With cheap flight to Amsterdam you could get the cost down to 200 euros return(120 pounds).Im seriously thinking of doing the train, anyone else interested?????????

I understand everyones point about the cost when you get there.  But if we can do it cheaper than 350 then it's money i can spend on other things, like books for college (aye right!)

I'm gonna find the cheapest route possible!!!  DHD, I can get to Amsterdam return for about £40-50 with Easyjet, might take the train option.  Gonna see if my mate fae college is coming too, don't like flying on ma own

Just had a quick check on easyjet.com for and idea of flight costs.  Edinburgh to Amsterdam looks around £20-£30 each way for mid August (i just picked random dates.)

If we had a night out in Amsterdam, we could get the latest train, making it a nights accomodation as well?????

DHD - If we filled a 4/6 people cabin would it be cheaper???

Sorry if I sound like a penny picker about this, but its the worst time of year (financially) for us poor students, and I really want to go to this game!!!

I thought someone had said the away leg was likely to be second and in late September though??

Any time up to September 30th, LH.

Dianne - whit ye apologising for? Some people have money to be able to just say "Right, we'll get that plane, cost isn't too bad."
Others, like you and me, need to work out the cheapest way.
We went through Dublin tae get tae Brussels!

Like has already been said, ye can fly with GO for £128 rtn going through Stansted. If yer prepared tae spend all day at East Midlands airport (about 9hrs) or spend a night in Bristol(!) on the way back, I think ye can get the price doon tae under £100.
Obviously the Bristol option would then mean an extra nights accomodation tae pay unless ye kip in the airport.
Never gone through E Midlands but I'm warned ye'll get really bored spending all day there. (Mind you - a few swallys and a bunch of TA with ye - how could that be boring!!???)

Train's sounding better all the time.

You can't beat a good swally on a trans-european train journey.  Even if everyone else bottles it, dhd, I'd rather do it this way than fly direct.  I guess it'll be my turn to buy the case of bubbly

From the SFA news page:

11 June 2002

Scotland's leading international goalscorer, Julie Fleeting, has turned professional with the Californian team San Diego Spirit. She flies out shortly to join her new team in the Women's United Soccer Association.

Scotland captain Julie, who has scored an astonishing 73 goals in 58 internationals, is delighted at signing her first professional contract. She said: "I am excited at the opportunity to play with and against some of the top players in the world and am looking forward to the experience."

San Diego Spirit already have several USA national team players, so Julie will be among the cream of women's world soccer.

Julie will, however, return to play for the Scotland team, which recently secured a play-off against the Czech Republic. Dates for that match will be decided at a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in July.

So it looks as though we've got a bit to wait before making plans

But a BIG well done to Julie!!!!
