Many greetings and best wishes to Ladies Team for their success!

Scotland now face the Czech republic in a two legged relegation/promotion playoff, with the chance of being in the top league of Womens European football for the first time ever.

The exact dates and venues will be announced by UEFA on 10th June.

Meanwhile, what follows is a copy of a topic from General forum.

WELL DONE LADIES AND BEST WISHES!

After a shaky start, and a nervous first half, Scotland secured the victory against Wales that ensures they finish top of the Group about Belgium.

Wales missed a first half penalty, when the spot kick came crashing back off the post into Gemma Fay's thankful arms.

Halt time 0-0

10 mins into the 2nd half, the skillful right winger, Donna James, chiped in the opener from 30 yards, although the Welsh keeper flapped a bit and probably should have saved it.

In 82 mins, Captain Julie Fleeting put the game beyond doubt with her usual composed finish from a cross from the wing to make it 2-0.

Well done the lassies and all those who made it down to the game.

From the SFA site:

"If Scotland win the group, they will face the Czech Republic - bottom of Group 1 - in a play off for promotion to the first category of European women's football. The play-off dates are set provisionally for 22 August and 30 September. ''

Anyone for Praha in August/Sept  then?

Aye Andy, no need for some of the stuff you have said today - if you're not interested, don't read!

Looking forward to a wee trip Ezzy, pity it's potentially the day after the Denmark game - just make sure the two home games are in August.

Just had the 200th phone call today and 400th Txt message.

Battlebus commander and Credit card didnae huv the pace and have crashed oot.

There have been a few Avitar casualties as well, although I'm no saying anything, the people responsable can come clean themselves tomorrow.

And on that Subject, Claw managed to get his hand on MeJulie's shinpad(!)
don't ask!!!

Some new songs on the bus by all accounts, better be some choir practice before the Czech match.

Tap Shop will be stowed oot for that match!!!

Well done girls - great result - my adopter kept me informed of proceedings during the match. Thanks Wullie.

When's the play-offs? Home match at Livie again?

Well done girls

Claw you may have got yer hands on Joooooolie`s shinbad but your an awfie bad babysitter!!!!!   Can I apologise on someone`s behalf for the general disruption they may have caused in the Hebs yesterday ........ ahem

Well done to the ladies - and thanks Sacks for texting me the goal flashes (although I'm not sure about the "stupid cow" comment...)

Wish I'd been there...hope my avatar behaved (and survived?)...looking forward to the play off

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by Battlebus Commander on 1:06 pm on May 20, 2002

Sammy and me got the shin pads, still had it on when I woke this morning.

Highlight was getting into the back of the stand and coming up the tunnel just as the teams were lined up and F of S playing. I was glad I had the megaphone to lead the communal singing !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by Sacks on 1:54 pm on May 20, 2002

A reasonably quiet journey became total mayhem in seconds thanks to the introduction of balloons cunningly twisted into light-sabres.

Total carnage the entire length of the bus.  Class.

Ok ok Wee Buses Are S***e

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by sonny on 2:12 pm on May 20, 2002

Superb,
Cheers for the Newsflash texts. Also for letting me hear the end of the game live on mobile with battlebuscommander unwittingly commentating as you would expect from BBC - the expletives were class though. Then I got a call to let me hear the aftermatch singing - superb, including the '78 Scotland are the greatest fitbaw team rendition. Well done to you all for supporting the girls. Did any of them go to the pub with you all?

Blackie the Busrunner reporting here.
Shame on you tattletales re the delicate blossoming of a fragile romance between that blushing rose of maidenly innocence, Dianne, and that flower of Scottish chivalry, Sacks. What happens on the bus stays on the bus and I promise not to mention the marriage which took place on it.
Lionheart, the TA trip virgin, deflowered himself in spectacular fashion and the only toty rap on the knuckles was for The Claw and some tiny misdemeanors like trying to drive the bus away and some dangerous work with curtains. Kev was badly overserved on the way down and spent a fair amount of time contem-plating his crotch, but then who among us has not at some time? Had that Buddhist on beta-blockers feeling, that realisation that you have discovered a Grand Canyon of the mind are are falling, screaming soundlessly, through it for ever? Not me, of course, I just have a good imagination.
We do have a new dance, which the Vice Captain and Credit Card can be contacted about if you wish to learn the motions (A snip at £50 an hour) and, thanks to Wullie and Gill, a complete knowledge of the totally awfullest and most crap Scottish music in the history of the entire peoples of Scotland plus 10 billion years. And we are the balloon light sabre killer-dillers of the known universe.
Dianne and the BBC's songsheet has got some of the best ever, including We're on the March with Vera's Army. Contact her for copies, all profits to the Sunshine Appeal.
22 of Scotia's finest on the bus plus 12 avatars. Total avatar kitty £120 and totally brilliant. It went on, in order of dispensation, and size does matter here: BOOZE, accommodation for the couple of totally skint folk that came along, the driver and a well-deserved tenner for the bloke who ran the disco at Merthyr Tydfil FC social club on Saturday night. It would be fair to say that a good time was had by all, especially the one of us who got off with the lady with the build of a second row forward, and that the singing was special.
Read Monday's Herald for a match report.
Did we get a welcome from the women when they saw the flags and banners? Does Dolly Parton sleep on her back? Did we get hugs, kisses and not a few tears from them after the game? Darn tootin' we did. Did Marit dispense goodies? Did Vera seem marriage-threatengly attractive? (or was that just me?) Did we buy the club shop full of eminently desirable (and saleable:Sunshine Fund) souvenirs? Did Moira turn out to be a chanteuse nonpareil? That's yes times four.
And there is more, so much more.
To those of you who were there, ta. We know how we feel, we band of brothers and sisters.
To those of you who were not; Milk, lemonade, chocolate! Youse missed yourselves something rotten.
Cheers,
Ian.
PS. Give me a break on Prague for a few days.

Blackies report sums the trip up really.

Best Darts Player:Dianne........she beat maself, Bridie Boy,sacks  at killer darts.......not a great deal of competition for her.

Best Dancer:That goes to Bridie Boy........you can dae things wi yer legs a didn`t think wis possible.

Best swordfencers:the back o the bus

Best singers:the back o the bus

The longest sleeper:you know who you are

The quickest Magooed:same person that wis the longest sleeper.

The Strangest Fetish:the same person that wis the longest sleeper and the quickest Magooed.......was into sniffing the tarmac at every car park we stopped at on the way down.

All in all.........another cracking trip wi a brilliant bunch of guys and gals.

Big thanks to Blackie.

Couple more things that I forgot:
1) Lamia, you had the bestest time. You are in all the photos and Marit gave you a wee souvenir badge. E-mail your address and I'll send it and your avatar on.
2) Ruary, Callum had a great time apart from the skint knees and Wullie got a programme for you. Ditto above.
3) Maureen McGonnagle, the SWFA goodnik, chipped in £40 towards for a round for the martyrs of Merthyr. Now you don't get Berti dishing out the Euros, do you?
4) Fiona's escort was the complete gentleman, and if her erse is looking a little disturbed, there is a bug going round. She, on the other hand, is worth two in the bush.
And ok, I know four is more than a couple.
Cheers,
Ian.

My fave moments from Wales...

Making light savers for the children on the bus

Beating the blokes at killer darts - even though you play crappy rules, I still kicked yer erses!

Wearing the MASSIVE shoes at the game and running around like a fool (i know, nothing new!)

Winning 2-0 - Always nice

The (one song) Welsh, what a great bunch of people

My dad standing in between the home and away management with the megafone, singing Flower of Scotland...  The team couldn't sing it for laughing

Tommy's Tantric Tartan Army....  You really had to be there, sooo funny (camera 1 camera 2)

Strangest Fetish must go to Sammy - sniffing Julie Fleetings shin guard..... minger

One Tommy Scott, theres only one..,..

P.S. Lost sheep, as the guardian of your Avatar I hope you enjoyed it too!!! [:0]

Ian

Isn't it amazing what music you'll sing and dance to when you're magood.

Cheers Lionheart (BTW who are you?)  - people are just making me more pissed off that I didn't make it mysel!

I know it would have been a tough job to take care of a 'sheep' in Wales and I was quite worried - did I score, hopefully with one of the team?

And, since I was there, maybe someone can tell me aboot Tommy and for that matter milk chocolate and lemonade........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by Lionheart on 12:41 pm on May 21, 2002

I'm the latest recruit to join Blackie's Bus and joined up just before the Wales trip.  My name's Jamie and it can certainly be said I'll be going on future jaunts.

I've heard Prague is a great place to go!

Tommy Scott, the man's a legend singing his way across scotland in half-and hour propelled by his elbows and his two assistants, one and two.  The classic had to be there moment.

We didn't quite score but we did get a slow dance from on Saturday night and a couple of kisses from the team after the match. :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by Mazzy on 1:03 pm on May 21, 2002

oh gawd! Charlie D was I any guid?  I did reckon there was a wee bit chemistry between us when you were in front of me at Almondvale

We`ve got broadband installed today so it`s all oot fer dots noo yeeeeeehaw.

P.S. We adopted Doncaster Belles supporters in Dublin and Winky has used up a whole disposable camera getting his photie taken with them  (sigh) I was marginally better behaved than my avatar in non-virtual  life.

Lost sheep

the "milk, lemonade chocolate" is from Chewin the Fat - it is used to signify derision in the direction of an other party - by pointing at various parts of your anatomy and chanting the above phrase..............

I'll let you guess the rest.........

So,
who is up for Prague? A kind of bus-like airyplane, maybe with a sponsor.
Need maybe 150 @ £200 minus sponsorship.
There will of course be no drink involved and major sponsorship from Avatars
Talk to me,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by Tartan Sheep on 9:51 am on May 22, 2002

Does anyone know when the actual dates for the home and away games will be announced? I have some great memories from the trip to Prague in '99 and might well be up for a wee jaunt back, but it does depend when it is (lack of hols, UEFA cup tie to go to...).

Also, can we find out if it'll definitely be in Prague - after all, we don't play our home games in Glasgow or Edinburgh and the Wales one was in Merthyr Tydfill...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by ianblack on 10:26 am on May 22, 2002

Tartan Sheep,
book the plane and the people will come. Details/schmetails, it's the intent that counts. I've E-mailed Lisa for date, time, place etc.
Lost Sheep etc,
don't even think about any queries until you know in your heart that you are going regardless. I totted it up and you asked 70-odd% of the questions and then didn't go to Merthyr. Thanks for the £20, though.
There is already £40 in the Prague kitty that Maureen gave us in Tittyville, and we  haven't had the chance to spend it yet.
Cheers,
Ian

it's not Dianne, it's Vera. And what is this talk of handholding? Is that what you young people are calling it these days?

See Uefa finally got round to putting a match report together, pity hardly any of it was accurate.

They HAVE all the match results on their website and they still couldnae get it right.

Group 5: Scotland edge out Belgium
Sunday 19 May 2002
Scotland defeated Wales 2-0 in Merthyr Tydfil to top Group 5 ahead of Belgium and secure a promotion/relegation play-off with the Czech Republic.

Five wins in succession
The Scots lost their opening game of the section to Austria back in September 2001, 2-1, but won the subsequent five to set up a winner-takes-all meeting with the Czechs, who finished bottom of Group 1, for the right to compete among Europe's stronger nations.

Strikeforce to rescue
The visitors enjoyed much of the first-half possession at Penydarren Park but failed to make their dominance count as the teams went in goalless at the interval. Donna James and Julie Fleeting, the Scottish strikeforce, won the points for Vera Pauw's side in the second half, however, with goals in the 58th and 85th minutes respectively.

Special goal
James's goal was particularly special, a lob from 35 metres which left Wales goalkeeper Su Young floundering, but Fleeting's low strike was of equal importance. The play-off matches will be played in August and September.

Tommy Taylor (or Troy as he is now known) has some crackin pictures from Wales, if you wish to see some email me or Tommy.
