I'm not sure about Dortmund but remember being in Dusseldorf last year when Liverpool played in the UEFA cup final and a lot of their guys flew to Dusseldorf and a wee train ride later they were in Dortmund ...simple eh!

Dortmund has a small airport, so the prices are expensive. I would prefer to fly to Düsseldorf and than take the train to Dortmund. That's the best and cheapest way I think!

You can fly direct to Dortmund from London City aiport with Eurowings (www.eurowings.de) but I don't think its very cheap.
You can also go direct from Newcastle to Dusseldorf with them (dortmund's 50 mins away see bahn.hafas.de/english.html).
Best bet though is a flight with BA or Brit.Midland you might have to change at Manchester/Birmingham/ London, but it doesn't take that long to get to Dusseldorf & it's usually around £110 return.
Another cheapo option is Ryanair/Go to Stansted then Buzz to Dusseldorf.
Then just make your way to the Altstadt & get pished!
Cheers,
Gordon

Too right! There's a few TA regulars live in the town as well sometimes having a bevvy or two at McGlaughlins in Kurze Strasse so they'll be expecting us & it'd be kinda rude not tae turn up.

I'll probably end up flying to Amsterdam from Edinburgh, and catching a train from there. It's not that far away.No way am I going down to England for a flight.
The ferry would be nice, but I doubt they would let football fans on it.

Hi jmac!
Go to http://www.bahn.de/pv/uebersicht/die_bahn_international_guests.shtm
The texts are in English. I have looked at http://www.bahn.de for trains from Düsseldorf to Dortmund. The train needs 50 minutes for the distance and it costs between 14,30 and 19,00 Euro. There are special offers for youth groups. You need 15 guys with a age under until 25 years, than you get cheaper offers from the "Deutsche Bahn".

Rob,
I'm currently working on stealing a plane! Ithought the best way to do it was piece by piece, obviously I started with the wheels. Needed a load of bricks though
I could be tempted by your first suggestion, though.........

Could some people not just go to a flying school and learn to fly jumbo jets. Then we could get tennents to buy a couple of 747s a plaster their logo all over them. Then, whenever we have an away game, 'hay presto' we have our own transport, therefore saving all this hassle we have to go through every time we travel abroaad!!
Tennents get good advertising, we get to the games, everybody's happy!
Oh, and tennents would provide free booze on the journey.
Anyone else think this is another excellent idea which will never happen, or wishful thinking of the highest order?
