Seriously though I think the pertinant question has to be is there any relevance in my post to the TAMB and the reasons behind the inception of the TAMB????
For political posturing and the like I think that in 99% of the posts the answer would be no. Obviously there are a lot of fun threads in the AOB sectiuon and they should remain there if we are going to have poltical/club/queen/UK/Britiish posts then maybe they should go in the AOB section if indeed they need to be on here at all

Ok then who wants this moved to AOB, who doesn't and who doesn't give a toss?
Consider 2 points:
1. It started as a debate over whether a Scotland U21 International football match should go ahead: An issue other countries have taken a stance on (albeit by a one post new kid on the block).
2. It then became more of a detailed political debate with smatterings of Glega nightlife thrown in.
Anyone who doesn't like how my question has been slanted please direct your concerns to my editor....
Oh forgot an option who thinks what's the point in arguing over which forum its in....

Back to the point of the thread. For the game against Israel... I personally think we should seek to have a friendly with Palestine and say 'sod you' to Israel. I would be happy to invite Yasser and the lads into town for a few non-alcoholic kalibers (and maybe take them along tae Clattys afterwards for an oggle at the Sengas!). After all, it's the Palestinains that have the rough end of the stick offay the Israelis and get no support from the 'so called' supporters of good and peace that are the US of A and their little puppet (muppet) Blair...
Although not mentioned in this thread yet, should we assume that this is the friendly game in February next year??

It is a bit tedious getting into this loop again.
1) As far as I see the board is for ther TA to gather and talk among themselves about whatever they want.
2) If a subject is not to your liking avoid the thread.
3) The only thing dividing fowks is trying to censor what people talk about.
4) The position of having a list of proscibed subjects would lead to more fractiousness and is an utterly incoherent argument. Although on the surface it may appeal to the no nonsence brigade it would become a cover, as has already been plentifully evidenced already, for rambling vendhettas.
If there are any points of substance which will convince me that the above points are not unassailable truths I'd be glad to hear them. Otherwise, I'll see any attempts at censoring the TAMB as control-freakery. There is a broad church here and the only way that can be accomodated is to cater for all tastes.

Sonny, no vendhettas or censorship, just the simple question of is the TAMB really the place for Mid-East politcal debates? absolutely not, the TAMB isn't here to cater for those kinds of tastes........IMHO.

I'm not accusing you of anything. All I mean is that if one person doesn't like another they will use the arguement that their point of view is not valid to indulge in petty pointscoring. This kind of self-appointed policing has casued many problems over the months and should be left to the admin team.
If someone thinks a post is not valid let them tell the adminers instead of stirring it on the board.
As for your point. I see no harm in debating any subject with my fellow TA fowks. I can't go anywhere else to find the community I am trying to belong to and deepen these friendships with wide-ranging debate and banter. Many people wanted to get involved in the debate about the middle-East and they should not be slapped down by fowks who have no business policing the board.
To repeat: If you don't like the thread don't read it. I don't know why people have a problem with that and need to meddle with other people's liberties. I don't much get on with dictators. Again, I'm not directing that at you Reeky. I do think that if we are self-respecting adults, we walk away from what we don't like, instead of trying to purge!

Possibly not but the thread started out as a debate over whether a Scotland U21 International football match should go ahead, surely this a valid question and the TAMB is the right place to discuss this issue?
Tis is much more relevant than some of the other drivel that finds it's way onto the board.
Of course we could just stick to debating important issues like 'big brother'....

Sonny, not having a go at you personally either mate but you are advocating that members can post about absolutely anything that takes their fancy, and if anyone objects to the content of the thread then somehow they are the "thought police", well thats nonsense. Why don't we change the name of the board to the "Talk About Anything And Don't Worry If Its Offensive Board"?
My last word on the subject (quiet at the back) is that I now understand why Ezzy has taken a backseat on HIS board (before the unfortunate events that affected him and his family) and left it for others to run.

I'd let Ezzy talk for himself! A lot of fowks have taking to recruiting him to back up their own arguements rather than let their arguments speak for themselves.
You misquoted me dude, I never mentioned "thought police" at all. I'm not advocating freedom of speech without limitation. I like all civilised fowks draw the line at racism, personal abuse and illegal conduct.
Otherwise let the TA talk among themselves unhindered. We don't go to the pub to talk only about the alcohal industry afterall.....
Renaming the board may help because it is called the "Tartan Army Message Board" and not the "Tartan Army Football Messages Only Board."
My reading of that name is that it is for the Tartan Army to send messages to each other, it doesn't mention anything about specific subjects.
The censorship arguers have yet to respond to the point that if they do not like a thread they can ignore it. Any vote on censoring the board should be left until the proposers of such censorship adequately address this issue of self-censorship. I can't tell you what to watch on your tv right now as I don't have the right and the board has channels and no-one should have the right to tell me what I watch.

Sorry lads. As a newcomer I didnae realise my posting would bring answers sae quick! I'm just a retired GRANDAD starting to relive his youth.
I just put my postin on then I've been away. Some good postin's though. Sticking to fitball, I just don't like the idea of finding ourselves in a position where the daily rag carries a description of Scotland beating Isreal on the back page while the front page of the same edition has jets and tanks smashin folk and their houses.
Worse still is the thought that it could all be going on at the same time as thousands are watching on the telly, national anthems and all, us playing fitball. Right or wrong there is an association, and who would bet that it won't happen ?
