Why is is some of you are intent in putting kyle down.Doesn't matter what the guy does, there are people on here will still not give him a chance.I sometimes think you would rather be proved right than kyle to become a success.I for one  say well done for scoring this season, and hope he goes on to be a decent striker.Like I have said before, there are at least three people better qualified than me, think he has something.however many games it has taken him.Everything is relative, and the fact that he was in a crap team that had no confidence last season, compared to one that is now playing well and winning games, might have a big say in why the goals are going in now, but not before. And yes he is in the first division, but so was miller last season. So give the guy a break and lets see how he develops over the next season

Fresh ideas

Stood next to a German bloke at the under-21s who picked out Kyle as one of our top players. While we were all raving about Maloney and Fletcher, he specifically talked about Kyle....

He mentioned that in German football, Kyle would do well as they tend to appreciate players who make other players' jobs easier. Basically, his role is never going to be a flashy one, but he'll help others to shine.

If the bloke's right, and he gives guys like wee Maloney the chance to show off their skills, then he'll be worth his weight in gold.

Also, Kyle was quoted at the weekend by one of the Newcastle/Sunderland papers and he mentioned that Peter Reid had said it would take him until he was 23 before he would start to come good and his hard work would start to pay off. If Monkey Heid is right, and I hope he is, then we've got another year to wait. A year of playing regularly for the first team in the english first division cannae be a bad way of practicing...

all for giving young players a chance....and only giving an opinion after seeing him play.....this guy may well be/become a good player for Sunderland....but this is the national team we are talking about......just dont think he's up to it.....
and as for 'rather he failed than be proved wrong?' come on......

if anyone should take flak it should be Berti for including him in the senior set up ahead of his time. What could Kyle have done - say naw, don't play me, am no guid enough?

Kyle forms the nucleus of a very good U-21 side - one that should hopefully pay dividends in the next few years.

For what it is worth, every time I have seen Kyle play (other than his senior Scottish team displays) he has looked pretty decent. Also, did a Bundesliga team not come in for him recently?

agree with yermaw. If Berti hadnt have picked him before he was ready then this thread may have been theres this Scot scoring few goals in English Division 1 maybe Berti can have a look at him. But Berti picked him was low in confidence & not quite ready for International football. Not having a go at Berti as feel he saw something in Kyle & will continue to pick Kyle as he feels he can do a wee job for us.

Dont follow Ist division football so i can only comment on what i have seen at international level. Between the u21s and the full team he is simply not good enough. The most important thing IMO at international level is to keep the ball, and with Kyle his first touch is usually terrible. But thats only my opinion and i do not hope he is doomed to failure and really hope he proves my wrong.

wehtejimmyhill, would you like to share with us what you have seen of kevin kyle. You don't follow first division football but you do follow international football, of which kevin kyle has had less than one full game, i'd be interested to hear your views, based on this

I remember reading that Cologne tried to nab him before the deadline.  The laddie needs time.  He's not short of a bit of confidence, just look at his own web site.

He is something we haven't had for some time, a big powerful centre forward.  He could end up being the Duncan Ferguson we all wish we had had.

As i said Tam the u21s, who he was played for a lot in recent times its all there in the post if you read it. As Sunderland have only played a handful of games in the 1st Div should i be making my decision on him based on that?

talking about "Bambi on a plastic pitch" did anyone mention Wilkie's performance against the Faroes (apologies if it was previously covered elsewhere).

My heart was in my mooth everytime he was on the ball. He looks as if he plays on rollerskates - the ball is either stuck in his feet or he looks as if he is liable to topple over any minute.

Duffy and berti must obviously see something in him but I would keep him away from the Scottish first team (for the sake of my health) until he learns how to kick a ba'. He is very good in the air mind.

I have never said if i think kyle is good enough as I have not seen enough of him to make any judgement. So therefore my opinion doesn't matter. But there are people that do see enough of him, and therefore ARE in a position to judge. And its their opinion that matters..My point is he should be given time and encouragement, not berated because of one or two bad games. If he doesnt make it fair enough, but lets give him a chance.
