I think most of the comments are bang on.......Now is not the time to try anything new.
Now is the time to go with what we can tentatively rely on to do a decent job.

The Norway game should be a loosener for the squad, gearing us up for NINE points from our last three games.........maybe SEVEN........OK might have to settle for SIX...but no less.

Maloney definately, Thompson no way

Fletcher no way he's only played twice for Man U.

Will super Bazza be playing or is he 'injured' again.

I think it's a great opportunity to let a few of the players who have been in recent teams but were previously on the fringes get a full game. I'd include Micky Cameron in this as he looked the part against Germany, Webster probably Rae.

I think it's the perfect game for Barry to prove he's fit again and on recent performances that seems to be the case. Will he go - I'm certain he will but understand peoples reservations. If he does then he should play to see whether he can fit in with Cameron and probably Lambert.

With four weeks or so to go before the qualifying matches that will determine whether we qualify out right or for a playoff I think this is the wrong time to bring in yet more new young players.

TT

And of course I think Steven Thompson should play at some stage but I would wouldn't I !!

I agree that the team sholuld be settled for the Norway
game. But say we're 1-0 down in Germany with 20 mins
to go. I'd rather see Maloney/McFadden coming off the
bench than a seasoned pro such as....... canny mind his
Fkin name noo. Bradford? Andy Gray?

I would maybe use the Norway game in same way the Poland one was used at same time though agree with point about too much experiamenting. Would possibly use this game to look at players looking to be fit for Faroes game.

there are certain players who it would be pointless to play against Norway , Lambert, Fergie, Douglas, Dailly beign the 4 that spring to mind all solid performers who we know loads about and who are comfortable with the set up. Guys who have become regular or semi regular recently shoudl get a run, Presley Webster Crawford, Cameron, Ross etc (tho Miller is injured) adn id like to see some fring players get a run - definitely a goalie and probably Kerr, MAloney and McFadden too.

Id probably go with a 442 of

Alexander

Ross
NAysmith

Webster
Presley

Cameron
Kerr
Rae
McFadden

Crawford
Thompson/Maloney

there is probably an argument for includign hutch as well

If I was trying players against Norweegis (which I wouldn't - I'd want to get as close to the team for Germany as poss and get them to gel) I'd go with Stweart, Kerr, and definitely Gavin Rae -  he can go from box to box all day (no, I don't mean gay), and scores his share too. We need an attacking midfielder who can tackle back with plenty of grit.

McFadden should be left out for now (although in May I was screaming for him)  because his attitude sucks and he's not proper fit anyway. Maloney shoulda scored more goals in the last 6 games - he's a good runner, link-up player, and he sets up plenty of chances but it's a shade too early - his goalscoring form of late doesn't merit a place in the squad IMO, but I'd definitely bring him in further on in the campaign.

Thompson's not THAT bad guys!!! Rather him than Kyle or Andy Gray.

Tommyt - I like your proposed team. I hope he starts with that. A team like that would make this friendly quite an exciting prospect.

After the Germany game in June, I cannae wait.......
