Well some of these posts have certainly made for interesting reading and I have to admit that I am a bit pissed off with what MANY of you have to say. I`m going to have to have a gripe about all the griping going on:
1. "Big game hunters"
People who travel to ANY game...home or away...are welcome. Personally, I`d love to go to every away game but in the past the finances would just not allow for that. I now live in Tokyo and for the same reasons I have to endure listening to nearly all games on the internet. I have no issue with not getting a ticket. The system is as fair as it could be in my view - travel and you will be at the top of the list! Makes sense to me. It`s a system that got me tickets in the past. HOWEVER, I havn`t travelled since the Belgium game so I lost out this time around. FINE. What isn`t fine is the derogatory tone that some people have towards those who can`t travel to the "less attractive" games. Now ANY game for me is attractive, be it in Dortmund, Tallin, Kaunus or 50 miles north of The Middle Of Nowhere, but in terms of travelling from Tokyo, it would seriously inflate the cost of travel to go to Lithuania for example and even getting to Germany is a bit of a struggle at the moment.
Once again, I have no problems that those who have travelled more come first. I knew that would be the case and made other arrangements to get a ticket - which was NOT difficult - but I just don`t like the apparent snobbery toward those who don`t travel all over.
2. 6 days to reply.
I understand that organising tickets for each game can be a logistical nightmare. Therefore it makes no sense to get on the phone and make things more difficult. However, that is what they are paid to do and I can think of far more challenging logistical tasks that are undertaken every day. 6 days is a bit on the tight side. Why send out letters of interest, wait for the allocation to be confirmed, then send out forms to those who are successful and only giving them 6 days to reply? If memory serves me right, in the past (WC 98) we sent our forms way in advance with payment. if we were successful then that payment was taken, if not it wasn`t, or refunded. That is the same system being used by Uefa for the finals. There would then be no problem of people being on holiday and not getting the form in time. ON THE OTHER HAND, why not ask someone to do it for you? For the past two years I`ve had my friends and family deal with it for me and only this year asked the TC to send direct to Japan.
Anyway, I think I`ve said what I had to say. In a perfect world we`d all get tickets, we`d all receive the forms at an appropriate time and we could all travel to every game. But it`s not a perfect world so let`s just get on with it and if you do have concerns or legitimate points, put them in writing to the SFA and make yourself heard in the correct manner. Also, if yo travel to every game then great, I take my hat off to you and you are doing the team and the country a fantastic service but remember that for some that just isn`t possible and we don`t all deserve to be labelled "big game hunters".

re: your first point, i dont think its snobbery at people that CANT travel to all the games, i think its just people getting pissed off at those that only WANT to go to the big games and then whinge when the others get tickets first.

I think there are too many people on this board that think they're better Scotland supporters than other people, mainly because they've been to Iceland, Faroes, Mars, etc.. If they've got the holidays, money and domestic set-up that allows them do this good luck to them. What gets on my tits if that when members of this group start this big game hunter pish. The last time I checked it was a the Scotland Travel Club, unfortunately some people on this board see it as a Scotland Travel Clique and unless your supporting performance conforms to their expectations you're not a REAL supporter, which is of course utter f*cking nonsense.

Perhaps there are one or two people who think they're better, but in the main the problem is the other way round - it's not some people feeling superior, it's all the sad tw@ts who feel inferior!!!, and then pass the blame onto the people they feel inferior to...

Never felt inferior to anyone on this board, in fact given the sh*te that some people write I've felt vastly superior to quite a lot. However if you believe there's no travel related snobbery on the board, I respect your right to that opinion and admire your ability to type with your head up your arse.

.....and I think some people blow things way out of proportion or selectively read posts, 99% of "snobbery" I have come across is people on the wind up.

I disagree, I think some people get a bit pompous because they've been on the "wee trips" (which are always better, apparently). If they were lucky enough to have been able to go, as I wrote, good luck to them but, if they think it makes them special then they deserve a, metaphorical, boot in the baws to bring them to their senses.

I've never seen anyone claim to be special 'cos they were in the Faroes. You're only "special" if you went to Hong Kong! (Everyone knows that!)

LM if you think there is travel related snobbery then I think you are slighty sensitive to wind-ups (with Reeky on this one  ). Its a common tradition for folk to wind each other up about the number of caps they have and its just a laugh. Think some folk need to lighten up. If people stopped getting all touchy about it I think you might notice a reduction in those kinda post trying to get a rise out of folk.
Oh and btw the small games are the best, there is no "apparently" about it! Also the further you have to travel the better too. If your flight is less than 8 hours the trip will be cr@p!
