ok so theres a lot of praise here for the club and rightly so, but sometimes you also have to accept critisism when its due.
If a father and son that always go together only get one ticket, thats a mistake. If, as has also been stated a husband and wife have only been offered one ticket then thats a mistake.
You cant always go around saying how great everything is and burying your heads in the sand when mistakes are being made.
The only way they can continually improve and update their methods is if we point out the mistakes otherwise we might as well go back to queueing up outside Park Gardens!
You are right wrighty.
I reckon the father or the wife should hand their tickets back.
If they have been to the same games, they face the same criteria.
The TC have been fair with their allocating.
If you want, my Boyfriend got one and I never. We would have been married but it's no allowed in this country. They should give me one too.
I'm not gay though BTW.

Am I missing something here? Wasn't the original post nothing to do with ticket allocation and just about the fact that normally you get the opportunity to make multiple applications on one form.
Me and my normal travelling mates have all got tickets having been to all of the games so far but its still a bit of a nightmare trying to get all the forms/cheques etc together within such a a tight deadline.
What would have been the problem with allowing multiple applications on one form. The TC know who has the ticket entitlement and who doesn't.
It's bad enough doing this from Jersey, I hate to think how difficult it would be from abroad.

Does anyone know what will happen to the tickets that have been allocated to people who no longer want them? †
Will these be given out to those unsuccessful in the ballot?

That's what I'd like to know. † I had thought that the first batch of definite ticket allocation (ie. those with a previous away game from the campaign) would be dealt with first so that the STC would then know exactly how many tickets they had available for the ballot. † But it seems that they will now leave themselves with a pile of unused tickets from those who previously expressed an interest but now cannot go and the ballot has already been held. † So there will be a pile of ticketless fans and a pile of unallocated tickets and it will be too late to give them to folk that would have sat together etc etc.
I happen to be in the "STC couple only allocated one ticket between them" bracket here and it's all very well saying that if you really want to see the game it won't matter where you sit but, in practice, I'm sure quite a few folk wouldn't fancy being split up in the crowds at the game and leaving their other half to deal with the unknown in the German sections! † Putting your travelling fan members in that position isn't really helping their safety is it?

You're both members, you each had a separate chance in the ballot (I assume in the ballot, as if you'd both been to an away qualifier, you'd both have got tickets). If only one gets, then c'est la vie. That's the luck of the draw.
You could suggest however to the STC that unless both you and your spouse/mate whatever are succesful in future ballots then you don't want the tickets....
IMO, the only time this would be an issue is if it's a parent & child thing, and I'd imagine that the junior form must have an accompanying adult application. This to me would be the only time two separate members would (and should) be treated as one for ballot purposes.
There is absolutely no way there will be unused tickets sitting gathering dust in the STC offices.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not moaning about our own situation - we'll get another ticket one way or another even if they aren't together. † What I'm saying is it wouldn't kill anyone to have a little common sense applied to this (maybe keep it for parent/child like you say) because at the moment what is happening is actively encouraging people to travel without a ticket and I thought that was exactly what the Travel Club was supposed to be trying to avoid.
As it goes I got my ticket through turning out for Lithuania and the missus had to rely on the ballot, not having made it away since Paris.
And I'm absolutely certain that there won't be any tickets gathering dust either but the STC will have doubled their work by having to wait on returns before having a second ballot (isn't everyone in agreement here that the STC have a tough task getting this organised as it is without making it even more difficult for themselves) and there'll be a lot more rushing about even later in the day for STC and fans who've been trying to find alternatives only for some of them to then get tickets out the blue in the 2nd ballot (which incidentally hasn't been explained in any of the letters we've received - no mention of what happens to the unclaimed tickets or what you should do if you still want one).
Just a wee bit of constructive criticism you know. † As has been said on here many times - no system is perfect but it'll never get any better if we don't look for improvements.
No slight intended on the staff trying to make the system they've got work. † Believe me - I appreciate how difficult it can be to run things that might look simple from the outside

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the ballot for Prague I seem to recall that we submitted "envelopes" rather than individual forms - i.e. those who wanted to travel together put their forms in an envelope together and if that envelope was pulled out, all folks whose forms were in it got tickets. I know this wasn't the way it worked for Iceland since I had to spend a whole day not knowing if Jaggy Bunnet had also got a ticket after I found out about mine....but maybe it's something they should consider doing more often?

Ask the TC about how kids points are allocated.

kevink, I'm suggesting a Dad should get a ticket if his kid qualifies. Couldn't have kids at away games unaccompanied could we, not with all the paedophiles in the TA.

There is no need to get personal, just because you are an aris.

Maybe if you didn't hide behind your name, then you might actually get to meet people and know them personally. And maybee find out things to add to your far more superlative brain.
