According to http://www.ptfc.net, the SPL are considering changing the u-21 league with four over age players to a normal reserve league.
I think this is a backward step, as this was one of the few ways that the rules actually encourage clubs to opt for young players instead of experienced pros. On the other hand with the cutting back of squads generally, maybe there is concern that there simply would not be enough eligible players.

This is pash.
When all the clubs are on shoe string budgets we need the youngsters to come through. YOur right that this is a backwards step.
People have moaned though about the rules at the moment about having 4 overage players and that it should be less. I disagree and 4 is just about right. YOu need a team for any older injured players to get a bit of match practice before they come back into the team or for older players who sit on the bench every week.

it might have been decided that - well since most of the clubs running a 2nd string of youngsters anyway due to ££ limitations - that there isnt really a need to enforce the age rule.... just a thought...
