GET A LIFE!!!

As was indicated on here before, there is football and family day and evening been arranged for Sunday 3rd of August. With the Monday according to my diary being a public holiday.

The game of football will be between an over 35s TA select and the famous Dukla Pumpherston.(Who include in their squad the likes of Berti Vogts and David Taylor) Ideally there will also be a warm up game between 2 under 8,9 or 10s teams. We might also manage to entice a couple of celebrities along from the world of football.

The idea is to involve as many of the TA as possible in this event with each ATAC club putting forward one player each with the rest of the squad to be made up from guys on the board.

The idea behind this event is to have a fun day out where the whole family can come along and enjoy themselves with bouncy castles (for the kids) bar-b-q music and entertainment as well as the football.

We have booked a certain Mr Andy Chung to provide the music and he will be along with his band to entertain us. If you havenít had the opportunity to see Andy in the past I can definitely recommend him. I hope to be able to arrange a piper or two as well. We are also hopeful that at least one of the 3 DJs registered on this board will also be able to keep the party going long into the night.

The venue for this day  is Cartha Queens Park Rugby Club and they are located on Dumbreck Road Glasgow just 2 miles from the city centre or junction 1 off the M77.

The idea is that the gates will open at 1.00 pm and the event will go onto midnight.

The entry to the event will by the way of programme which we will sell for £2.50 with
all proceeds from the event will go to the Sunshine Appeal. It is hoped that this event will be a success and if so can be repeated annually. There is enough room at the venue for hundreds if not thousands so get all your mates organised book a bus, take the train, or just take a taxi or your car and come along for a fun filled TA day out, it would be nice to think that we will get a great turn out for what should be a cracking fun filled day.

I know that many of you volunteered to be in the squad previously but unfortunately I cant seem to find the last thread on the subject so I would ask that all ATAC clubs to put forward their nominations once again as well as the others from on here to get the team together. I also hope that amongst everyone on here we can get a couple of under 8,9 or 10 teams play in a pre match warm up game.

Please post on here your comments or e-mail me directly on Ruarymcg@ntlworld.com

What about anyone that's not quite over 35, but as near as damn it?

:clutchingatstraws:

(PS Ruary, it must be just a Glasgow holiday? †It's not a holiday up here. Don't know about the rest of Scotland.)

pps - I'm sure those eligble to play would be more than willing to pay £10 - £20 for the privilege??  Seeing as it's going to charidee anyway.

Excellent John, so that is one under 8 team from Perth if my memory serves me right Marco wasalso going to put up an under 8 team. We could have a couple of "kiddies" games so any more teams would be welcome.
McTeagle how close to the magical 35 are you?

One other thing is that we probably need a manager and we definitely need a set of strips.... anyone????

By the time of the game, 6 months .

I quite fancy this anyway so will be going even if 6 months isn't enough, so I can sort out strips no probs.  Might even manage to avoid a colour clash this time.

I'd even be manager, but after losing out to such a poor bunch as the HTA I should probably put my managerial days behind me.

(Settle doon highlanders, I'm just kidding)

I'm up for it, I nearly signed for Rangers as I had a dodgy knee and could only guarantee at the most, to play one game into contract, they said I met the criteria to be a Rangers Leg End, but I was too small.
But as my # 1 fan says I can run like a bullet, though I have never seen a bullet run, I was once fired.
