GET A LIFE!!!

Dont think much of Gemmill as a player (as alot of you probably have noticed!!) But give the guy his dues, he isnt one to drop out of a squad every game and he seems proud enough to pull on the jersey even if he is only a bench warmer. Just wish he was as good as his dad!!!

i was really looking forward to see scott in the scotland team when he broke through into the forest team when he was a youngster, must confess have not been impressed with most of his games for the national team, but anyone who is willing to pull on the scotland jersey will always have my support, and like has been said his loyalty can not be questioned with mostly appearances on the bench.
it will be hard for for him having to live in the shadow of his father, but hats of to him he keeps on turning out.
but with no disrespect to scot , bertie does not have a vast nimber of players to call on .
so good luck to scot in the future , who knows he just might score a wonder goal like his father one day and go down in scottish football history.

Fair comment guys - I don't doubt his commitment.

I just don't understand how he can be a class player in the premiership and duff for Scotland.

If I was cynical I might think it's because the premiership is vastly overrated.....

Did his dad play for Scotland too? (joke!)

I don't think we are in a position to comment on Scott Gemmils footballing ability as he never gets a game!!There isn't any doubt about his loyalty to his country

For me Scott Gemmill fills that place in the midfield that is not glamourous and it is not going to get you noticed in a creative way.

In the game at pittodrie versus Nigeria, Scotland played reasonably well for the first time under Vogts but believe me it was not Lambert nor was it Ferguson in midfield that pulled the strings it was Gemmill.

Scott needs a run in the side, doing what he does best, breaking up play and getting the ball to the creative players.

Berti believes the players need time to get to know each others way of playing.......that said......

Having Gemmill and Naysmith playing together may have some mileage as might Cameron and Miller but thats a different thread.

I agree that Scot Gemmill's attitude towards bench warming has been 1st class and I believe that he has a part to play in the squad.  Cant really see him as a regular though.  You've got to applaud his loyalty to the cause though.

gemmill has shown loyalty, the like never shown before and unlikely to witness again,99% of international players would have packed up years ago
we would all like to think, we  love scotland so much, but realisticly not many would have the patience gemmill has shown.
On loyalty alone he deserves to be first name on the team sheet
But everyone knows, including berti and himself ,the chance will never come
scots love of the blue shirt should tell him its time  to move over, williams, murray, kerr, stewart, fletcher are all looking over his shoulder

And if any of those players prove to do a better job than scott in a future cup game or friendly, or if they are lucky enough to win a place due to someone else's misfortune.  Then Berti will pick them again and Scott I bet will be one of the first to congratulate and I bet he tries to win his place back.

Pressure for places is what makes teams better.

I can't believe some of you guys are still giving Gemmill stick for his passing ability after he got us back into the game against the Canadians. Ok..... he obviously isn't the complete player but one thing he can do is pass a bloody football!

Scott was on for ten minutes today and Everton had four Scots on the pitch. Unfortunately Weir and Gary Naysmith decided to give the Kopites a chance and got red carded. Emile Hempstead and Muff Owen were horizontal most of the game and young Rooney I am sorry to say seemed to do a Diouf at the Kopites. Not a big grolly but noticible. Worth watching Match of the day to see it just for wee Murphy's goal, the little Gobsh!te.

What Gemmill lacks in skill he more than makes up or in loyalty and passion, which he has in bucketloads. He ALWAYS answers the call from his country regardless of wether he's going to get a game or if he's just there to make up the numbers. His attitude should be an example to some of the so called better players who only want to play when we're winning (we all know who they are)

BTW, what was the final score yesterday, Mick

We always seem to want to find reasons to knock players rather than celebrate the postive things about them.

Scott Gemmill has shown more professionalism than so many players know how to these days. We go on about players not caring any more and you could never accuse Scott of that.

If anyone thinks he isn't good enough but is selected then, as has been said, blame the manager and not Scott.

Good to see that his commitment is appreciated.

Have been saying for months now that Bertie has to stick to basics and play to our strengths. Get back to a 4-4-2  with a couple of other solid midfielders supporting Barry and Lambo.

Scott Gemmill (Cameron, Rae or whoever) would do me fine.

Think the SG criticism is so overplayed that I reckon some people have become blind to what he does well and what he can give to the current Scotland side.

So to the dissenters    and to the SG fan club

Don't get me wrong, Gemmill is a good player and his loyalty can never be questioned. We've not got many midfielders playing in 'the best league in the world'.

But he's not reproduced that on a regular basis for Scotland (canada game he was good).

What I think when he pulls on the national jersey he keeps on thinking of his dad's performances, and I think he's almost afraid of not living up to his dads name.

Come on Scot! Relax and play the game your way and enjoy yourself!!
