Just watched the lunchtime news. Isn't it amazing how much they seem to assume??? Apparently, the penalty against Argentina by David Beckham gave the 'United Kondom' its biggest collective smile of 2002! I think they must have missed something at the EBC. It might have made that Union Jack McConnell traitor to his country fellow smile but I rather preferred the semen lob by Ronhaldinho!!!!!!!! I think most of the readers of this board would agree???

This one's not EBCs fault - there are more en-glanders so 'their' things get more votes when it comes to a vote, like this.
I'm not defending EBC - I see petty blinkered parochialism in much of what they do - but this one's just down to numbers voting.

When it comes to the important things - politics, national identity etc - the BBC is actively hostile to England, or, worse, pretends that it does not exist.
Yet when it comes to sport (ratings winner, you see), it talks up England's teams (to win ratings, you see).
And you lot go bananas. Such a shame you can't see the bigger picture.

It treats England as a disjointed group of British 'regions'. As long as the English identify themselves as British and not English it is happyIt gives near-blanket coverage to the anti-English Labour party and is hostile to the (mildly) pro-English Tory party. Its news and current affairs programmes never give any coverage to the English nationalist perspective, contrast with the coverage the SNP gets on BBC Scotland.
Scotland, unlike England, has dedicated national television and radio networks on the BBC - you may not think much of them but at least they are there. But fawning coverage of unimportant ball games tends to blind people (on both sides of the border) to the BBC's real agenda.
