The board (hosted at https://t-army.com... /tartanarmyboard/) is now back on-line and with the exception of a short maintenance outage foreseen for 02:00 on Monday morning for 2 hours, should remain that way!
The fault is entirely laid at the feet of the company GX Networks (formelrly XO communications and before that Global Internet). The board went down before lunch on Friday. Incidentally, they had just been paid for next year!?!?! Anyway, they were told about the problem immediately and fobbed us off with the standard 'we are looking into it' response.
Nothing happened over the weekend as they have reduced their level of service such that they only provide support and problem resolution during normal business hours. This is total nonsense for a company selling Pro high availability web services.
Anyway, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday continued with the fobbing off. Many thanks to Ruary who spent considerable time kicking arses (and getting pissed off the lack of right arm left arm connection in GXN!!!). Also to PerthTam.
Without going into the technical details, I can only conclude by saying that the words 'brewery couldn't piss-up and organise' all go aptly in my summary of GXNs handling of the situation and the 24 hour response & resolution that their service promises - total nonsense.
If it happens again, they will be binned to the pile of shit service providers in the sky. However, I think most will agree that in the past, the availability of the site has been exceelent and there has been no degradation in service / performance as the number of hits and bandwidth used has steadilly increased (this was what killed the original board).
Finally, we will be pursuing them for loss of business and loss of service and any monies we get out of them will go directly to the sunshine appeal! Any lawyers out there like to help us get some revenge / compensation?

I echo your sentiments wholeheartedly.
Their customer relation skills need to seriously looked at as well as their service levels.
As CB says the most ironic thing about the whole affair was that 2 days after him paying the account for this forthcoming year they go and shut us down 
Part of the problem was that they use an American company as the domain name registrar and they seemed to have an issue with GX, or maybe it was because they didn't appreciate the humour from several of our posters in our "political" threads 
Anyway we are back and lets hope we never go away again.
Thank god it was only 6 days had it been any longer I would have been forwarding my claim to Craigie to sue the buggers for a large severance pay off to my "EX" as I was becoming extremely ratty with no access to the only message board I use. 
Any other ideas for claims please post below.

Agree that in the past the availibility of the board has been excellent until this outage (outrage?) so hopefully there won't be any more problems.
Anyway, I've closed the old board and changed the re-direct so that
