Talks too much

I have to say that I felt some of the posts on here were a bit hasty, surely people should have waited until it was actually confirmed Barry wasn't playing, which it obviously won't now be.

Just for the record I don't see Rangers/Celtic/Aberdeen players on international nights, I see only Scotland players.  That includes getting behind Ian Durrant when he played at Pittodrie vs Faroes, I'm not looking for any praise for doing that, just making the point that it simply wouldn't occur to me to get on a player's back because of club matters.

I have to say though that Rangers in the last 15 years or so have done plenty to arouse suspicion that they do not want their employees used by Scotland, statistically you'll find the incidence of their players being withdrawn form squads is far higher than those of other clubs, even taking into account a higher number of players called up in the first place (pro-rata is the phrase I'm looking for).  Now maybe that is just coincidence, after all they seem to suffer for some reason a higher incidence of injury overall (Prodan, Ball, Rozental, Mols), but it's bound to arouse suspicion, especially in the parochial environment that is Scottish domestic football.
As for Big Eck's reign, it's too early to say, but like most I hope he helps foster a new era of cooperation.

All the best to Barry and the boys on Wednesday.

Fresh ideas

When are we all going to grow up. Barry has said he want's to play for SCOTLAND, so lets give him a chance to show it. As much as i hate it , player's are payed buy there clubs and have family's to consider. As an Aberdeen fan i applaud the old firm players who turn out for SCOTLAND. The club 'v' country crap must be unbelievable.
As for aberdeen players pulling out, i don't think so. You really think an Aberdeen player would miss out on the chance of bieing called international class.

That's right,

Suspicions are to be expected in this instance. I mean fowks will be happy if he does demonstrate commitment.

Trying to make people ashamed of themselves for being cynical in this subject is OTT. It isn't that important and not worth dividing the support over it.

Enjoy the game fowks - I don't care too much about the scoreline as long as we show promise.

True sonny, the last thing we want to be doing is dividing our supporters!

Danny the problem is that with the current squad that we have available to us at this time Ferguson can probably give us more in 55 minutes than the majority of the others can in 90 minutes.

Chuffed to bits he is fit and I am really looking forward to seeing Lambert and him operating under the guidance of Berti. Hope Derek McInnes gets a chance as well as I think he is a lot better than the likes of Gemmil but on that note I will be the first to acknowledge Gemmils commitment, however how many times even at amateur football do you turn around and notice your best players missing but your numpties who only get games through injury turn up week in week out. Come on SCOTLAND

Thats a good point Stevie and I suppose we should not discount the guys that will turn up and play for Scotland against whoever and whenever.
I am sure that every genuine Scotland fan wants to see the best eleven on the park and I am definitely looking forward to seeing Ferguson and Lambert together as I honestly believe that these two are our only genuine class players.... sadly

Unfortunately, and I know this will upset a lot of guys here, Gemmill is injured, as is Matteo and McCann.
We'll miss McCann...

I think the reason so many people assumed the worst about Ferguson was his past record - he has only won 10 caps and hasn't played for Scotland for something like 17 months.  Now that may be entirely down to bad luck and injuries but I think to suggest that anyone commenting on it has an anti-Rangers agenda is out of order.

I don't think we should be turning our backs on any players (except those who have turned their back on the national team), but equally you can't build a team around someone when you don't know if they are going to be available.

As for Tartanteddy's comments about McGuire, he was stretchered off.  Ferguson had completed the 90 minutes for Rangers (even though the game was over long before the end) so I fail to see the comparison.

Hope Ferguson plays on Wednesday even if it is for only an hour as that will give Berti a chance to see him close up and also to take a look at someone else.

Bzzzz,
Not sure what your point is. I did say it wasn't worth dividing the support over not "the last thing" you want to do is to divide the support. Sometimes that is inevitable and unavoidable given that we are individuals. My point was that this thread has nothing in it of any substance which should bother anyone beyond mild  irritation.

Looks like Ferguson is going to play as according to the BBC he was one of eight confirmed starters.

I have listed them all in the Scotland v Denmark thread
