I think its great we have foreign fans. Its obvious these people see us for what we are, that is SCOTTISH FOOTBALL FANS NOT ENGLISH HOOLIGANS.

Or Scottish hooligans?

Funnily enough, when I've been abroad with England people have seen the thousands of English fans as ENGLISH FOOTBALL FANS AND NOT GERMAN HOOLIGANS.

Amazing that, eh?

Oh, by the way, nobody on this board 'GIVES A SHIT ABOOT ENGLAND' apparently. That would seem to preclude you bringing up England in a post which has absolutely nothing to do with us. But just to deflate your smug balloon slightly, there are plenty of non-English England fans as well.

LOL, it may seem that way! But on my trips abroad I've met Dutch, Swedish, Belgian, Malaysian & Finnish followers of England. There really are plenty.

The power of television eh?
Champions League, ManUtd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Posh and Becks....

There's football fans and football fans.

My guess is the guys you're talking about are used to football in a nice 4:3 ratio format with commentary and adverts.

Well - maybe. Perhaps a bit harsh to judge them without having ever met any of them?

They had at least made the effort to go and watch England play abroad, which is more than many so-called committed English fans bother doing.

It's the same everywhere CUFC - even in Scotland! The only way to weed out all the glory hunting bath turds is to be mince for a few years - then you see who the real fans are!

Ah, Craigie Broon's selection and tactics explained at last!

And there was me thinking Scotland were just a load of old cack - I should have known you were just trying to build up a loyal fan base

At least we've got a loyal fan base e.g. fans who turn up to watch the game and have a good laugh.  Not ones who can't make it because they've either had their passports confiscated or are locked up in some foreign jail.

Ooooh, touchy are we? For someone who claims to be able to 'have a good laugh', you seem remarkably incapable of taking a joke.

Never mind, I'm sure it is great fun watching your boys lose to Australia etc. Oh, and if I were you I'd conveniently ignore the 10,000+ English fans who travelled to Japan and managed to do themselves and the country proud. It'll make it much easier to try and claim some sort of moral high ground, and it won't make your last statement look quite so silly as it actually is.

Fine, oh psychic one. I seem to remember similar predictions about us smashing things up when we lost this time - didn't happen though, did it? And we all know how disappointed that makes certain sections of the TA - it always strikes me as slightly odd that some people look forward to English fans behaving badly so that they can smugly trot out all their "knuckledragger" lines. Still, whatever floats your boat. 10,000+ 'chimps' had enough peanuts to make the trip - but better ignore them, they don't fit in with your outdated views, do they?

Let's assume, though, that you are right. Until 2004, then, let there be absolutely no mention of English hooligans since - on the evidence of Japan - the problem has been eradicated. And only the most ungracious and bitter of hypocrites would try belittle and the behaviour of English fans at the last World Cup.

Oh, sorry I forgot - if you can't even claim to have better fans than the English then there really is nothing left to cling onto, is there?

CUFC - We all know the reason why your fans never rioted at this years WC.  I thought the Police, government etc did a great job by confiscating passports and throwing people with records out the E*****h Travel Club.

I work with one lad who has a record, he has never been in trouble whilst travelling with E*****d,but it the end of the day he's a little trouble-maker.  So  they won't give him anymore tickets for games.Great idea, albeit a little to late to save the reputation of the well behaved E*****h fans.

OK there might be sections of the TA that want to see your lot go crazy, but there are more of us who dont.  I was actually happy (and not ashamed to admit it) when the TV showed us E*****d fans doing the conga in the stadium during the Denmark game.  Maybe at last your ***** ry has found its manners and weeded out the hooligans,  for your sake and the rest of the World I hope so.

'Until 2004, then, let there be absolutely no mention of English hooligans'

OK are we just supposed to forget the trouble those hooligans have caused so many countries in the past.  I for one will need alot more evidence than one tournament to change my opinions of your fellow countrymen.

Dear FCUK England
Your fans were a credit to the nation, were they?
I suppose you'lll be telling us that, because the morons were prevented from travelling, and there were no arrests, that somehow England fans are now world famous for NOT starting any trouble. Is that what makes you great fans these days, not getting arrested?
Well done, give yourself a pat on the back, chaps.
We are in awe.

When am I 8? 30th July .

You guys have missed the point - rather than jumping on me straight away and demanding why England fans should be given credit for behaving normally, try reading the posts.

What has started out as a bit of good-natured banter has turned sour because some people simply HAVE to drag out the tedious and outdated rubbish about English hooligans every time they see a percieved slight towards their own support.

I don't think we deserve medals and awards for not smashing up Japan. I appreciate that this is how decent fans behave and I salute the government and the FA for doing so much to stop troublemakers travelling.

BUT - approximately 1,000 were banned from travelling. More than 10,000 were in Japan. It doesn't take a genius to work out what many of us have been saying for years - the vast majority of our support are good-natured, football-crazy, normal fans. And since we have managed to go through a tournament without fighting the local police force I think they HAVE done the nation proud, yes methilstevie. I don't expect you now to proclaim that we are world famous for not causing trouble, thatwe are the best fans in the world (although I think we are) and model the TA support on that of England, but it would perhaps be sensible to stop talking about English fans as if they are all hooligans.

It really does come across as petty, small-minded and rather pathetic if all people can say is "Aye, well wait til next time." If it happens then it happens, and you can all shake your heads and say "Told you so." Until then you'd be doing yourselves a real favour to shut up about it.

ALL of the posts are "good-natured banter" until you contribute.

I used to read your posts but you're really irritating me now, why don't you go and stay on the England message board? Seriously though, why do you keep coming on here?

I think you've outstayed your welcome.....................

"I used to read your posts but you're really irritating me now"

So if you don't read my posts any more what is the problem?

Actually I think you'll find this post was 'good-natured banter' until Desert Jock and macqueen started churning out hooligan references. Until then it was mainly football-related and mainly good-humoured. In fact, looking back, it was the Helsinki two's apparent compulsion to mention ENGLISH FOOTBALL HOOLIGANS in a post which was entirely unrelated to either England or hooligans which started the rot. Just a bit unnecessary, that's all.

So Andy, from now on you'll know just to skip down a post when you see my name to save you reading it. And since I've only ever really experienced abuse from yourself (usually along the lines of "Ye're a fanny", I won't miss your replies too much.

Try the Irish or Welsh,  what about the French I thought the E*****h hated them.
