Something to say

I seem to remember some chat a while ago that there was maybe going to be a season ticket for the home games in the Euro qualifiers.  Does anyone know if this is coming to fruition? (admittedly it is a while until the 1st home game but was just wondering)

I think it was one of the many suggestions that ATAC have made to the SFA, along with Travel Club Section at Hampden, Band Section, choice of Half Time music etc etc which have so far been adopted. It certainly makes sense to me and would hopefully boost crowds at the smaller games. Presumably some form of discount would be offered eg 3 games for the price of 4, which would obviously benefit us as well.

GET A LIFE!!!

This idea was first suggested to Mr Taylor at the June 2000 meeting with ATAC, and we tried to push this for the WC qualifiers.

As well increasing the crowds, having your 'own' seat, it was suggested that like many club season tickets, there should be a voucher that would entitle the season ticket holder to get first refusal of their seat in the event of a playoff.

We all remember what a fiasco the '99 Hampen playoff ticket scandal was.

People sometimes forget that not everyone can travel to away matches and this does not make them any less of a supporter.

The case and point was made by Hamish Husband, (Chairman of WESTA and ATAC spokesman) who pointed out that there are fans not in the STC who attended ALL the four home qualifying matches but were unable to get a ticket for the Playoff match.

If the season ticket system is adopted, then these supporters should not be excluded from playoff matches in the future.

Hopefully the season ticket will come to fruition this time, as we have been pushing for it for the last three years.

Cheers,
Tam

GET A LIFE!!!

Tam,

Did anything come about relating to the half-time music?

Nothing worse than having to spend half-time of a crucial match (Belgium) watching and listening to a penalty competition, when the crowd could have been singing itself into a lather / frenzy

Fresh ideas

Who's in charge of marketing at the SFA?  I can't beleive we're debating about should we have a season ticket for home games...of course we should, it's a no brainer.  They could learn a lot fron English premiership clubs and even Celtic about how to market themselves.  The TA has a fantastic image at home and abroad and I beleive most young Scottish men admire Scotland supporters and given the chance would be part of that club.  Admit it, you get a buzz going down the pub and telling everyone you were at the latest Scotland game...it's a patriotic thing.  Apart from the more obvious benefit to the SFA of getting the money up front at the start of the season, I'm sure they could get much more bums on seats.  A little advertising campaign would work wonders, portraying the TA at home and abroad.

I think davidd is 100% right and the unfortunate thing is that we will probably have to wait for a good few years for this to happen.  A season ticket may also sort out away issues over limited numbers of tickets as season ticket holders would get first refusal, a system which I believe works at club level.
I don't believe that if you can afford to go abroad, you can't afford a season ticket. This would also allow newer, youger fans a chance of tickets if they are committed fans.
