Scotland 2 Bulgaria 1. 1978. Our last warm up game before the world cup I think. I was either 11 or 12 depending on the date of the game. My big sister's boyfriend (Jam - on account of his name being Robertson) and his mates took me. What a fantastic experience. Unfortunately because of the financial constraints of a single Parent family, the next game I saw was the 1-1 draw with N. ireland in the 1982 WC qualifiers. Spent all the football dough I had available to me on The Murn. Well we had a decent side then!!

PT,

if yer laddie's showin' an interest I'd take him along - just so he can say what his first game was! Plan to take mine along asap - although at 17 months, it's a wee bit early yet. As, tae ma first game - seem tae only recollect that 3-1 defeat tae Argentina (same as Mr Shangalang & BR) as well as attendin' the Argentina 78' send aff - which wisny a game but at least 30/35,000 flag wavers wi' lion rampants!! (Feel daft admittin' tae that) However, I'm sure a must have been at one of those old hame international games before 79'  - would have been aboot 10 or 11 then......

It was World Cup Qualifier in Wales - Ninian Park, the night Jock Stein died.  I was 16 at the time that makes the year aboot 86.  I wiz half way up a floodlight trying tae get a better view when we scored the penalty and in ma jubilation nearly fell to a premature death.

Perth Tam,
Bring the bairn along on the PTA buses, there are plenty other bairns he can go with and you can still get pished.
There are a few of the boys that do that.
13 for my first game, but was screaming to go for years before that.

Think mine was also the game v Argentina in 1990 where Stewart McKimmie scored an absolute screamer. I stood on the old covered terracing and went absolutely mental when the goal went in...leading to several TA folks round about realising which club side I supported

I was 19 - and I was hooked.

Versus Peru in 1972, 2-0,  I was 7 and just like Danny in the old South Enclosure.  Think it was Law's last goal for Scotland. 2nd game was the NI home international the following year Jersey Jim and Lost It mentioned, up in the old North stand , not for the vertigo sufferers.

I was 13, Scotland v N. Ireland in the home internationals in 1978. †Scotland won 1 - 0 and I met the injured Danny McGrain in the car park before the game. By the way Wullie Anderson, you're giving your age away now.  I thought you were a lot younger than that!!!!
