Edinburgh-raised Robert Blair has been named as a late addition to England's badminton squad for the Commonwealth Games.
The 20-year-old former Scottish international joins another athlete to switch allegiances to the Auld Enemy - world squash champion Peter Nicol.
Nicol won the Commonwealth title four years ago as a Scot, but will defend it in Manchester representing England.
Blair, who partners Donna Kellogg in the mixed doubles, said: "My decision to play for England was based on badminton criteria only and not made for any other reasons.
"I felt it would be impossible to reach a world class level without it."

How can folk be allowed to "change" country like this?
He obviously hasn't represented Scotland (in the past) or England (in the future) - he is simply representing himself - that is all he seems to care about.

is it true that the Scottish squash team wouldn't help Nicol and that's why he had to play for England, just to get into the competitions?
I remember him saying that in an interview.

as williamwallace says, it is totally incomprehensible why anyone would do that, it makes you wonder how some peoples minds work, there must be SOME reason as to why he has done this, or why was it allowed, in football if you compete for your country to a certain level you cant change teams, so why in this sport
