It's all very well making a bit of money, but selling the rights to the Daily Record is going a bit far surely. The only reason I can see for a Scotland fan even considering doing this is a big fat cheque, unless he genuinley respects the views of the aforementioned publication. I know people are saying that we shouldn't judge him before meeting him, but IMO I don't think it is unreasonable for some people to think that getting the Record involved was a very bad move, considering the animosity that exists between a high proportion of the TA and the Record. He must have expected some sort of backlash.

On a brighter note, I agree that it's a great idea to get the Sunshine appeal involved, the more avenues available for raising money, the better.

was talking to an ex member of adie`s wee`est pipe band in the world recently & in his words, adie would fleece his granny.he (amongst others) still hasn`t been paid for work done on 'scotland be good' & the promotion there of.a salutary warning to anyone who may have any business dealings with him in the future, scotland fan or no scotland fan.

Further to my point about who would sue you, I was reading a piece regarding Trademarks:

As your brand becomes more widely known or you anticipate it will be, then registering trademarks can become more useful. The registration process does not in itself stop others using your brand or logo, but it makes it easier to put people off or take legal action against them.

I remember a couple of cases regarding bands too. I recall Verve had to become The Verve because an American band had it first, like wise with Liberty becoming Liberty X, so effectively you could register Tartan Army.

Anyway, my point is I can't see anyone being stopped for using The Tartan Army on their merchandise. Ian Adie makes a few bob selling the name to The Daily Record or whatever, so what, that was his choice, it doesn't stop anyone else doing it (as far as I can see).

The official Tartan Army newspaper has a quote in it today (page 7, read it in the Lab BTW, did NOT buy it!!), from the Tartan Army Spokesman, IAN ADIE.

Now wasn't he the guy that sold the rights of "Tartan Army" to the Daily retard?

How much would it cost to get a whole page in the Daily Retard to thank them and Mr Adie for all their hard effort in supporting the TA over the years and also how pish thier paper, bus and making money from the TA is.
