just when i thought that it was safe to switch on the radio again..arch inglander fan and apologetic snp'er, andrew wilson yesterday on radio scotland, delivered more sanctimonious bilge about the scots 'chips on shoulders' (yawn..), our 'lack of confidence' re-our non support of ingerlund (bigger yawn..). who the hell is he speaking for?..more importantly, why is he getting so much newsprint/airtime.
will this wee tube ever pipe down and simply go away?
answers on a postcard to...

But what is he gaining from it, apart from getting some personal media exposure? Nobody else agrees with him (unless Swinney does) so he should just shut the hell up.
There again, the way the SNP are carrying on, it disnae matter. We'll never be totally free in my lifetime!!!

Wilson certainly is targetting the wrong people with this message. Football allegiences are so deep seated and irrational that there is no way this message would be received well.
If he was talking in general terms about recognising the need for Scotland and england to have a healthy working relationship then I don't think he would find many people to disagree.
Just shows you that the SNP leadership are idiots and not in touch with the majority of the people.

Why is it, that every time Andrew Wilson says or writes something like this, everyone starts their rants about the SNP or its leadership?
The SNP are a political party and are not a political wing of the TA, and Andrew Wlson is entitled to his own opinion, even if it is boll*cks!!!!!

problem is boy kerr, that wilson and his ilk are ruining the chances of any electorial success with this nonsense..and as a nationalist, i find this intolerable.
when, in scotland in 2002, there is so much to complain/get angry about..he chooses to piddle about with this crap.

got to agree with you ther mr shangalang! i'm a nationalist masel, i have to agree with you in that the lib dems/labour have given the scottish people plenty to get angry about, problem is that the SNP attacks ont hem are very weak to say the least. The problem isnt with Wilson its with Swinney, he is the weakest politician at Holyrood and he is suppposed to be a leader, it was the SNP members who put him there and lets not forget that.

Hey the boykerr!!!
First of all you start slagging us off for getting at the whole of the SNP heirarchy instead of just Wilson - then you jump on the same bandwagon.
Double standards here methinks.

I'm starting to agree with Mr Shangalang on this issue-Wilson had his moment a few months ago,and he's still droning on about it.If he thinks it'll win any more votes,he's wrong.Getting stuck into Labour will win votes.
But to those who moan about the inner workings of the SNP,I have to say this.If you want to shape the future of the party, you need to become actively involved. It's no use moaning about things in here!!
I lose heart myself from time to time, but your voices need to be heard.

It's a load of pash. Let him do what the hell he wants. No-one is gonnie stop being a nationalist cause Mr. Wilson tries to make the SNP look reasonable in this way. Everyone knows the press are overwhelmingly unionist and this is a pre-emptive strike for when the independence referendum comes along. Fowks can't accuse us of being anti-English....
We'd be far better of patting Swinney on the back for saying the monarchy should pay inheritance tax like everyone else and claiming the jubilee celebrations are too OTT. If those who slag off Wilson would praise Swinney for this then there would be something to say maybe.
I think they are in a corner here and these things have to be said or the ulimate aim will be undone cause we seem like unreasonable xenophobes even though we ain't.
Plain and simple so get off their backs and start thinking about the next leadership election which may well be next year.

c'mon sonny...swinney, (tony blair II) wilson (acres of newsprint..radio airtime, making a complete arse of himself and in turn damaging a huge chunk of the core vote) will/are bring unrest and strife..its no secret that alex salmond is making noises about a comeback!
you also must have had your back turned when swinney rambled on for 25 mins about how wonderful the royals were at the recent parliament sitting in aberdeen...stomach-churning stuff!
i will always be a nationalist, but i'll be damned if i will toe any party line which totally blanks the real issues regarding this country (industry, health, jobs, business investment, oil revenues, unaccountability due to london-based decision making)...in favour of appeaseing mr 'middle ingerlund'. the crap eminating from the snp recently will have the dirogatory effect of senior figures engaging in backroom revolts (i actually know this from a family friend who is a senior party member..not joking!) the night of the long knives will happen..sooner than you think. then perhaps we can concentrate on the real business of making this party electable in scotlands major cities.
i'll repeat it again, at a time when scotland is crying out for a strong, visionary, confident snp..when there is so much for the party to crusade against..what do we get, wilson and his 'chips' and 'under-confident' insults...makes you weep!

whatever we think of Wilson, he's no that daft, he knows what kind of thing will get him airtime/media coverage.
To a politician, that is all that seems to matter.
I used to be involved a bit in PR/media stuff and know how much value is placed on "column inches" or interviews. It is all calculated and counted. Wilson keeps his profile high in this manner. And maybe he thinks this kind of approach makes the SNP seem less radical to the mainstream.
No matter what you think about how truly crap Tony's gang are, you have to look at the share of the vote they get. The SNP is failing somehow to convince Scotland's voters that we can actually run our own country. Mind, that rabble in the Big hoose in Edin aren't helping any.
Personally tho' - I was delighted to read that Salmond maybe making noises about coming back to sort them all out. I think he's been disapointed at the turn of events following Swinney's rather weak leadership.
keep us up to date Mr S,

Shangs,
I agree about all the areas of policy where there should be more radical policies. We will only manage that if we don't uneccessarily rock the boat in the other ways as radical will just look mad. Wilson is shoring up our credibility.
I play fitbaw with Salmond's former advisor and my feeling is that Salmond would be welcolmed back with open arms. A leader who proclaims that his internal critics don't have the party's best interests at heart is basically throwing in the towel. Though I don't think that the attitude towards the monarchy and supporting England is of any consequence in leadership policy matters.
BTW, Wilson has kicked ass on fiscal independence so much so that senior business figures are going for it and the Tories are preparing to back it too. Come on, it's not all bad. He is good at the business stuff and knocked the stuffin oot o bendy Wendy on that one.
Credit where it's due eh? Remember, although we all disagree the heart is in the right place!
