Fresh ideas

As a regular at games since the mid eighties i have noticed the decline in crowds and atmosphere, the recent addition of the pipe band is a good idea, although i cant think up anything of hand, was wonderin if anyone else had and ideas to drum up the atmosphere at hampden(parden the pun), is there a singing area?

Thought about this for a while-  Loudspeakers! Or whatever you call those thingies you hold up to yer mouth and shout.(Loudhailers?)

They sound well-cool on TV at foreign games when some dude is leading chants and the crowd follow along.
Go on- someone must have one in a cupboard!

Something to say

I think a lot of drums, loads ae bagpipes, and to get everyone singing for the full 90 minutes!

Also, people need to be attracted back to the games, its really with the decline in auld firm fans that's making the games less populated i think.

Cheers
Richard

I know what you mean, that sounds brilliant! also bringing in the Fog horns, I'm gonnae bring one or two to hampden in August, if a lot of people bring those that'll ring the atmosphere!

Shneckie - I think the word yer looking for is megaphone!

I believe that at least one of these was on the bus to Wales - I'm sure it'll be heading for Hampden in August.

Richie,  unless the polis have changed their tune ( lol) then you'll no get in the ground with foghorns. Too much like  missile according to them -  mind you,  you no even allowed a flask on a cold winters evening - how likely am I to chuck a £25 stainless flask at some useless haddie running around a park?????

TS- that's the word! But you knew what I meant!
Only problem might be finding someone drunk enough and loud enough to do the honours

BTW, where can you buy those foghorn things? I've always loved those babies at games.

The PA system at Hampden should be used to better effect.  Half time against the English 2 down they whacked on 500 miles & Loch Lomond.  The bit was jumping.  Lads I knew in the away end were gobsmacked, never seen anything like it.

Since then they've tried but the system is pants.

The West Stand (Rangers End) seems to be where all the noise comes from.  They tried a Travel Club section against Australia, good idea wrong game.  Didn't help that we were mince that night.

Perhaps we could suggest a load of songs to the SFA and get them to blast them out before kick off and at half time.

First and foremost in getting the atmosphere going at Hampden would be a full house, but that isn't going to happen unless we start getting the results and/or they drop the prices.  If the place is full there'll be no need for megaphones to generate noise.
If they keep charging £30 a game there's always the option of giving everyone two cardboard tubes to bang together a la Hong Kong supporters!

Good idea, espesh with some Proclaimers action.

Maybe we should sign up that guy from Real Madrid to shout 'Goooooooooooooooool'. You know, just in case we ever score at home.

that's right, the polis here are pains in the arses with their stupid laws at football, there's as much chance as an english hooligan partying with their opponents than a tartan army follower through a £25 cannister on the field.

Still though, i'll try and sneak one in to hampden, its not like if you through it you're going to reach the field, its hampden remember.

Cheers
Richard

A song list is a good idea. A lot of the ones in the TA songbook and others

Letter from America
500 miles
Throw the R away
Cap in hand
Killiecrankie
Bonnie Dundee
I had a dream
Loch Lomond
Caledonia
Wild Mountain Thyme (purple heather)
Roses o Prince Cherlie.

Stuff like that

Lorne, how'd you do that? Anyway, cheers for the info.

Sounds like the police/security need to lighten up and let people have a laugh for their thirty quid.

like these mental big flags the dons have, which they give to cute birdz to fly when they score.  They might not be used much, but there is plent of space behind the goals at hampden.   Also is it true the Tartan army are to get the XXXXXXXXXL 50 foot high strip to use as flag??

There's a great song in the TAMB songbook - no' sure what it's called but it's tae the tune of the Wild Rover and the chorus is

And it's planes trains and taxis
We'll be there on the day
To see Bonnie Scotland
Wherever they play

They could play that at Hampden - it's superb. I know that they've got a CD with it on at the Heb Bar....

Maybe each home game we could pick a theme just to add a little something extra.  Like bring and inflateable banana or something.

We could agree something on here and then get the national press to let all others know.  Big flags are a definate and those cards that you hold up to make the flag or badge (like Barcelona do).

There's no enough 'd'oh a dear' sung at home either...
