GET A LIFE!!!

Just read on ceefax that Real Madrid are after a friendly against Scotland in Glasgow as a thank you for the hospitality and support they recieved while here.  Whats everyones thoughts on that?  It would be absolutely brilliant to see them at Hampden again although I think it would be best to wait till we had half our players back!

We should do it during the world cup - it would be 11 Scots against McManaman.

Real Madrid want another Glasgow date

Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano wants to play Scotland as a
thank you for the welcome they received in Glasgow this week.

The Spanish giants were delighted with the hospitality they received
before and after the Champions League final win over Bayer Leverkusen on
Wednesday.

Now Valdano wants to return the compliment by playing Berti Vogts' team,
who were beaten 4-1 by South Korea on Thursday, at Hampden Park.

"Real Madrid would like to be part of another game at Hampden," Valdano
told the Scottish Sun.

"We can only play against one team and it cannot be Rangers or Celtic -
it would be disrespectful to the club we don't play.

"We thought about trying to arrange a game against a combined team from
both clubs but that is not possible either.

"But Scotland are in a new era under Berti Vogts and they are looking
for rivals.

"We would like to play against the Scottish national team as gratitude
for the warm welcome and support they gave us.

"The friendly would be great entertainment for the Scots and Spanish
supporters."

what a great game that would be. Real would blow us away though....

wonder how they'd do against the best countries in the world? They're obviously the best club side in the world right now, but would they beat France? Brazil? Germany?

Great to see that the Spaniards trip to Scotland has had a huge impact on them, it'd be brilliant to have them in Glasgow again with the Tartan Army there. Let's hope it goes ahead.

And,as they would be playing the national team,it would be even better.Kilted up jocks from the 4 corners of the land would give them a real taste of Scotland!
Glasgow has done Scotland a great service, now we can all get in on the act

p.s. CUFC..when has anyone wanted to rush back to England to thank them for a warm welcome?

It's a game I'd like to see if we could put out our strongest side. I doubt we'd win (but we usually do OK against the best teams) but I'd hate to see an experimental side go up against them.

I think this is a fantastic gesture by Real Madrid and one that surely will be noted by the Euro 2008 commitee.
It is a marvellous decision by Real to even think about coming back to scotland for a game how about if the Spaniards were asked to come for the November friendly I am sure that Scotland real would fill Hampden and also offer us a test at least the equal of any national side.
On a slightly different note I also believe that what Real have done for the people of Scotland by declaring their desire to return for a game shows that no matter how big or successful the team it is always possible to aknowledge the support they recieve something that the Scotland team should take note of.

Feeling a bout choked about this. (sad)

I've never heard of anything like this before, coming from a manager/Club of that stature. This is unique to us, like the adds taken out by foreign Mayors and the Belgian award.

Truly proud

If this doesn't impress upon people like Traynor, Olaf and Eufa I don't know what will.

Don't you think that is may be a PR ploy for Real Madrid to say 'we won the Cup, naa naa na naa naa' and that they may still be a wee bit under the influence at the moment

Has anyone get the SFA perspective on this????

LIke the Brazil game, I feel people may be jumping the gun on this one.......

This sounds fantastico and also makes me feel proud to be scottish, Flower of Scotland ringing in ma heed, and shivers doon ma spine, Good job done by the locals and fellow TA that were there.  If they come back for the showdown then they will get the full TA welcome and maybe a long lasting relationship can be built.

Real 5 Dundee United 5   Season 2005 Champions league once old firm leave.
sorry that was a post pub dream.
