on the ex-Scotland fan thing, I remember getting the train over to Hampden for a game, and someone saying "Why do you support that pish" and the usual stuff. The guy was about 10 years old. When asked he said he was "Holland through and through", and he was actually wearing a Holland top. When asked to name a Dutch player that hasn't played in Scotland he couldn't. Wonder if parental influence is going on here?!!!

The thing that really fcuks me off is the people who say they'd rather see their club team do well than their national team. A just cannae see how people could feel this way. Ok, it's their choice and all that but a don't have the same passion for my club that I dae for ma country- I don't get so much of the shivers running down the back of ma spine; the hairs standing up on the back of ma neck; and the feelings of sheer exileration.

Please no SPL club tops at games .... ever. Also don't think the rebel ten should wear their's either. Ha Ha.
I guess teams outwith the top division can get away with it but as were there to support Scotland I think that's what we should wear, even the salmon pink (which I actually own and now cherish for it's kitch value).
A final plea. When you say OF fans you seem to think that they are a homogeneous group. They are not. As Ally notes above, thousands of us support our country and were damn proud to do so. I'm hacked off with the continual snipping and I reckon I and others who support the OF should be as welcome on the board and at games as anyone.
Lets face it, the OF will soon be supplying the majority of the national team - well unless their injured!
To those who know were not all bigoted automotons - you are the people!!

TT,
Well said. I'm not an OF fan maself, but the way I see it, if I have a problem with the OF, it's with the clubs management and ownership, not the fans who I may meet on a TA trip. When we're all TA together, thats exactly what we are, ALL TA ! And for those reasons I also think that club tops should be kept for club games. When I go to a Scotland game why would I want to wear a Killie or a Liverpool shirt ? They're not playing, the boy's in blue are and I want everyone to know that I'm there to support them, not where I'll be next Saturday.
Ah, look at that! Ah've just noticed that ah talk too much!

I also agree that its not just OF fans who make negative comments about supporting the national side. I do not understand the mentality of people who think there is a choice on this issue and if the national side is sh*te then why support them.
If we were the worst side in the world I would still support Scotland cos its about national pride not success (although that would be nice).
And TT I for one hate it when the TA OF fans get a hard time and wish there were more of them about. It makes no sense for the OF fans to be slagged off for supporting England and Ireland and on the other hand those who are TA to also take a slagging. Ask Ruary how supportive I can be on this issue TT

If you bump into that lad again any time soon ask him how he thinks his lot will do in the World Cup

Don`t agree with wearing any club tops to Scotland games for reasons already covered......... but surely if the guy is there supporting Scotland it shouldn`t make any difference what top he is wearing !
OF fans , Dons, terrors or jags, if we are at the game WE ARE ALL SCOTS TOGETHER.
for info - I am a lifelong Rangers fan (I am now 46) but would support SCOTLAND even if the entire team consisted of Celtic players............or aliens.....well they are ALL little green men!
