GET A LIFE!!!

I've read this a few times, still canny see where the mention all the work of the TA.

Statement taken from official 2008 site

Whilst we are obviously very disappointed that our bid was not successful, we would like extend our congratulations to Austria and Switzerland. This entire bidding process has been conducted in the most positive and fair manner as befits a tournament of the stature of Euro 2008.

‘We are confident that Scotland and Ireland presented the best possible bid and that it was extremely strong. We must take heart from the fact that we were competing in this match until the very final whistle.

‘Though we lost today’s vote, there have been a number of tangible benefits to come out of the bidding process, not least the enhanced reputation of Scotland and Ireland as capable hosts of major sports events. The joint bid was of the highest technical specification and there was no doubt in the UEFA inspection team’s minds of Scotland and Ireland’s ability to deliver a truly world-class event.

‘A tremendous amount of work has gone into this bid and we would like to extend our thanks to the many people who have worked with us over the past year. We are particularly indebted to the Scottish and Irish governments and UK Sport, who were all fully supportive of the bid. Our thanks also go to our corporate sponsors who been right behind the bid throughout. The bid has not been a wasted effort. This process has demonstrated that smaller nations like ourselves, through unstinting co-operation and effort have the ability to seriously compete for the honour of hosting major sporting events.’

‘We are certain that the lessons learned and knowledge acquired by all those involved with the bid will be invaluable as Scotland and Ireland look to stage other major events in the future.’
