GET A LIFE!!!

Just notice that the English are applying to hold the rugby world cup.

Well what if Scotland were to apply for that as well.
We will have some nice new football stadiums that the SRU could use and mibbe Ireland too, and the SRU could make a wee contribution to biulding the stadiums too knowing that they could use them for the world cup, and mibbe get a second lottery grant?

How many grounds are needed for a rugby world cup? anyone know?

Dunno,
Can't remember how many. The last rugby world cup was in Britain. I went to games in Murrayfield. The final was in Wales. Mibbe we were part of a joint bid before - can't remember. I don't think the international rugby board would sanction the SRU using football stadia for a wc solo bid.

but sonny thats exactly what the english are doing. There going to use there football stadiums for the 2007 world cup.

dont see why we couldnt do the same, if we've got the stadiums lets use them!

They got sixteen grounds earmarked, some of them are in rugby towns like Redruth and Gloucester ect. and only hold 11-15,000 we could mibbe upgrade the small grounds in our rugby belt, or use palmerston park in Dumfries ect and could probably make just as could an application as the english.

think we're too late for 2007, but why not the one after!

Ok, why not? I don't know enough about it. I do think however that the rugby wc alternates between North and South hemispheres so we may have to weight until 2015 so we can have a wee chat about it in about 5 years or so.

Something to say

I know this is hardly the time or place but whilst it would be great to get the rugby world cup it's highly unlikely that it will happen any time soon as a solo

England & France are tearing lumps off one another for 2007 - youve got to assume the loser will get 2015, so we're talking about 2023. The SRU and I think the IRFU are holding off from backing either bid because they want some games (as they got in 91 & 99) - so bizarrely you may end up with France winning the bid and us still playing at Murrayfield.

The problem with a Scottish bid to spearhead the finals is that any rivals can point to the dismal turnouts at the Murrayfield and Hampden games in the group stage of the '99 finals, even though the ridiculous ticket prices had something to do with it
