Apparently according to several newswires the UEFA delegation were very happy with what they saw on their trip to Scotland.

They have no doubts we will have the stadia to put on a show.

I wonder if the teams poor form may blight our chances... they'll want a tournament to be filled wi the best teams.  I know it's 6 years away but it makes me jittery.

We have more in place than Austria and Switzerland.

The teams perforamance has nothing to do with it. Remember Japan and S Korea hosted the world cup!

Looking good, all the noises seem favourable. Our biggest asset is the fact that we can provide more ground capacity than any other bid, this could `swing it` for us as UEFA seem to put cash first.

Fresh ideas

John b I don't think ground capacity will be that big of a factor in UEFA's final decision. The reason for this is that only a small percentage of the revenues created will come from match ticket sales and after all deductions are made  from that ie. rent there will not be that much left for UEFA. Television rights and advertising are where the real money is to be made and that is what UEFA will be most concerned with.

Whats more large capacity stadiums could be a disadvantage in some circumstances for example lets say Belgium and Denmark were playing in Croke Park. Now Croke Park has a  capacity of 80,000 nether of the two competing teams will have a large following at the match and also the Irish public will not see this as much of a glamour fixture and may not be attracted to attend. As a result there would be alot of empty seats around the stadium and as UEFA is very worried about image they may not see high capacity grounds as much of an advantage .

I have also heard recently that the tournament is as good as won by Austria and Switzerland and UEFA are merely going through the formalities of visiting all the other bids.

SOD - ah've heard that the Scandiavian bid has already got the tournie sewn up.

Heard it from a Swedish mate o' mine at work. OK - it's p**h but until you back up your words they are worth exactly the same as mine.

I hope the general football supporting public in Ireland isnae accepting defeat as easily as you.

I'll tell ye something though. If we are successful, there willnae be an empty seat at any game held in Scotland.
Stop being so negative..............

France v Sweden
Spain v Germany
France v Croatia
Italy v Czech Republic
Portugal v The Netherlands......

.......not to mention Ireland's & Scotland's games.

Big attraction all round.

Then there's the parties before, during and after every game.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh..............................
