GET A LIFE!!!

I've included a link below to the summary bid document in all its glossy glory.
It is in PDF format at the moment which means you will need an ACROBAT reader to view it http://www.adobe.com AND it is 9 MEG in size.

Probably not a good idea to download it from the house!!!

Text only version will be available over the weekend and I'll post a message to let you know when its up and running.

very good read but one small point,in the list of sugnatures you have 3 players,Keane and Quinn of ireland and Ronald de Boer of Holland,no present scottish players???? Also,Rangers seem to be the only Scottish club side with any signatures. What about the rest. Seems to be more Irish people and bankers than Scottish footballers.

Just got round to reading this. It does look impressive but I've checked out the Austrian/Swiss one aswell and it looks pretty good too.
They're trying to sell their bid with the "Mercer" league table of cities in the world which have the highest living standard which they obviously top. (see http://across.co.nz/qualityofliving.htm) but I don't khow much that'll influence the voters.

I think our bid compares very favourably with their one and I'm quite hopeful - certainly I think it's between these 2.  Mind you, they do have a very serious advantage shown on page 11 of their brochure. Knocks ours out the park.

Check it out at

Talks too much

Our bid does look mightily impressive I have to say.

I'm sure I saw the signature of The Great Dane Ebbe amongst the signaturies on the document.

I'm off to have check out the Austrian bid but I seriously doubt it can match what I've just read.  It should give us real cause for optimism.

Of course, most of us would rather have had a solo bid.  But it was not to be, so we should all get 100% behind the bid as it is!  And well done to those who put the bid together!!!

According to radio the bids are being made to UEFA as we speak/type.
(I'm a wee bit behind on reading the TAMB so apologies if this has already been said).

Cheers jonny.
Copied it here

The Scottish-Irish bid to host the Euro 2008 football championship took a significant step forward on Wednesday as the official presentation was made to governing body Uefa.
Scottish Football Association chief executive David Taylor made a five-minute presentation at the House of Football in Nyon, Switzerland, explaining why the Celtic bid should be successful.
He told the assembled Uefa officials that Scotland and Ireland would deliver the best European Championships ever.
"A successful bid needs a proven capability of organising great football events.

"Uefa can be confident that we can take the successful format of previous tournaments and build upon their success to move the championships to new levels of organisation and enjoyment."
Taylor also highlighted the "exceptional hospitality" and beautiful scenery on offer in the two countries as well as the famous supporters of both nations.
"The people of Scotland and Ireland have an unrivalled desire for these Championships," he added.
"Our nations on the edge of Europe, ask this of Uefa: give us the opportunity to climb onto the world stage to prove the greatest football fans in the world can be the greatest hosts in 2008."
The Scottish-Irish presentation was be the last of the seven made by the candidates to host the tournament.
The others, who made their presentations in alphabetical order, are:
Austria/Switzerland
Bosnia/Croatia
Greece/Turkey
Hungary
Nordic (Denmark/Finland/Norway/Sweden)
Russia
Following Wednesday's presentations, Uefa will visit each of the candidate nations to assess the viability of the bids, examining the stadia involved, local infrastructure and accommodation.
That will take place between August and October, but Uefa already has a good idea of Scotland's capabilities, having visited Glasgow en masse for this year's Champions League final.
Ireland's impressive showing at the World Cup - both by their players and supporters - will also have done the bid no harm in the authorities' eyes.
The final decision as to who will host the tournament will be taken on 12-13 December this year.
